Naw, if the snow is off the driveway and salt off the street, I'll take a short ride on 1/1/2014.   

I try to ride every 1/1 if possible.   A few  timew I rode up the driveway and rolled back into the garage and parked MGM.

  I never understood someone's desire to leave during the winter?? Well, that thought must come with age cause I fully get it now. I don't know what it is, but ever since I was in my motorcycle accident I seem to get cold easier...    and I have no idea why?

  HEY RJ..... I just read about your riding buddy that passed away. Sorry man, a good riding friend is invaluable and I had the same thing happen.
  Tedd was a jail guard and I knew him for years. I'd take em in and he'd book em. Never knew he rode until the blessing of the bikes in Baldwin Michigan years ago. Never even discussed bikes. I was riding a Magna then and got in the infield of the airport where the blessing was held. Usually around 15,000 - 18,000 bikes which equated to a ton of people. Anyway, I pulled into a line of bikes and bailed off setting the bike on a small piece of 1/4 inch plywood I used for the kickstand. As I pulled my helmet off someone said: "dayum ur ugly"!
  I looked and to my surprise it was Tedd. My reply: "You better turn around and look in your bike mirror cause you "ain't so hot yourself"! Well, from that day on we rode whenever we could. He worked days and so did I, and if I arrested someone plans were made then if possible. (we were married and not to each other) If not then there would be a TX made and away we would go. It worked out well to cause I have another house in Baldwin where the blessing is so we would just take off. It was only a couple hours north.
  Now this is going to sound weird but this is the way it happened. We were at a blessing years later and he walked into the living room after a shower and no shirt. I told him to get a move on we had to go and he turned around walked away. I told him to come back and turn around. He did and said: "what are you doing"? I said: "whats up with this lump on your back"? He said he didn't know he had one? I told him to go to the doc and get it checked cause it didn't look right.
  Well, a few months later he did and it wasn't good, Cancer, and it was in his lymph nodes. Surgery was done but he started to go down hill. The phone rang. "Whatchya doin"?  Reply: Settin on my ass why? "Ride"?  Sure, where to?  Baldwin, your house?  Damn betchya I will be ready. He lived 12 miles east of me so I got around and waited. Pretty soon I heard the bike from the stop sign a mile down the road.
  We rode to Baldwin, ate a great meal, and got ready to head for home, to the main one. He looked really tired and I asked him if he just wanted to stay here (in Baldwin) for the night then head back in the morning? "Na he said, lets ride, you have to work in the morning anyway". So I told him, I will call in and tell em I won't be in. "Na, let just head south".  Alright so we headed home. That was our last ride!    The ride was all day on a Sunday and he died the following Tuesday night.
  WE rode a ton of miles together and was the best riding partner a guy could ask for. I think of him on most rides and miss him more than one could know. The value of a good friend and riding partner is hard to explain but I did the best I could. Sorry bout the novel but I understand where you are coming from.

It's also amazing how our body gets used to temps(notice I didn't say likes it). If we had a summer low temp of 50, we'd be freezing
our behinds off. After having this 0 degree stuff, a 50 degree day would be cause for celebration and going outside in a tee shirt and feeling warm.

Makes me wonder if blood really does thicken and thin with the climate changes.

The only time I really would of liked to see some warm weather was when I was in the trap w/Chesty Puller in Korea, the winter of 1950-1951.

About froze the kahoons off.    At least I knew how to dress for the cold, some of my city boys got frost-bite cause they wouldn't believe a 19 year old Buck Sgt.

Sorry about your buds there RJ and Hooter.  I guess the closest I have to a riding bud is ole Disco up in the DFW area.  We ride to Inzane every year and usually make it into about 4,000 or so miles before we come back home.  Dang work gets in the way and all.

Was still a fairly nice day to finish up on my Christmas shopping.

Darn, I forgot to give you a call and tell you to wave at the FedEx truck as it went by on I80. The package originated at my local Office Max store and contains some very precious cargo. Got a notification that the package(which was shipped Fri night) was in Council Bluffs on Sat morning.

The package is headed to MarkT's Horseapple Ranch. He's not barber/stylist per se, but he IS going to give my pipes a very beautiful
makeover! Now it's gonna be all the harder to wait till Spring to get em on. Wish I could have done it years ago but there's no time like the present. It's gonna be a nice Christmas present to my Dragon.

Cross over isn't too hard to put in.     If ya use flex pipe it is real easy.

I cut, bent and welded mine all into one piece.

When I tahe the pipes off, they come off together.

Almost impossible to get them back on by yourself however.

I used to have a set of his glasspack conversions.

I wanted to try the Cobra 6X6 pipes.

Guy in Michigan wanted my old glasspacks, so he got them.

I put 4 or 5 other set of pipes and ended up with the Vikings.

Still running them and have well over 150,000 miles on them.

I always value your opinions, RJ.  Through the years, I've tried to use the advice of others to my benefit. It's kept me from touching the "hot stove" myself a few times. Btw, you did a nice job on your crossovers!

One if these days I will get me a set of MarkT pipes for my gal.  The ones I have now have discolored header pipes from road grime.   Need me a pristine set of header pipes.

They aren't blue, they are just dirty and a little crusty from 50,000 miles of road grime and riding in the rain.
Don't think they will clean up.  I might try, but now is our best riding season...
