Last nite (New Years Eve),  my mother, 81 years old passed away.  She was a heck of a great lady.  In her prime she was an almost daily golfer,  and seemed to always come in 2nd in the city champs.  She also bowled on leagues with a 175+ average. This was all while raising our family of 6 kids while my dad worked long shifts with GM.   She had had her 2nd hip replaced in October and didn't have a good recovery from this one.  She did not push things after her 1st hip, but found the 2nd really aggravated her, so she opted to try to resolve it.  Rehab did not go well.  Anyway, she was essentially out for a few days early this week with very little awareness of what was going on.  Heart rate was 150+ for two days,  and last nite around 10:45 her heart gave it up.  She will be missed...

Sounds like she was a fantastic woman. May she rest in peace.
Now this is getting interesting........

Moms are very important to creating our personalities, or the people we've become.
My mother sacrificed so much for my brother and me as we were growing up.

I feel that it was a great gift to be able to be at my mothers side in her final hours and as she passed.

Best wishes Paul.

Sorry for your loss. I too lost both of my folks in 2013.

I must admit, the Celebration of Life Services that have taken the place of most funeral services seem to be quite a heartwarming and more uplifting event.

I actually lost at least 5 family and friends in 2013, I guess that's the trend as we get up-there.

My heart and thoughts go out to you and the family.
