I have been looking for some time, for a simpler mount for the license plate.  :coolsmiley:

Went thru the parts breakdown of many similar year Hondas, looked at aftermarket, etc, with nothing to show fer it.  >:(

I have amber lights in da beetle bags, that I'll use, as turn signals.

N' would like to have a simple, much smaller,,, plate mount/ light, (without blinkers) that looks like it could have,,, come that way, from the factory..

I think, it would really clean up da ass end, of the bike....   :cooldude:

Anybody have a clue where to look, what to buy?    :o

Thanks, Jim

There was a vendor *years* ago that had a license plate bracket with integrated turn signals...very clean and smooth, thought about getting one myself, but cursed if I can remember the name...

EDIT

Ok, here is the one I was thinking about...

You could do it like TJ's or take it to a body shop and have them built an indentation in the fender, called French it, and mount it there.

I had MGM that way in 1998 through 2004.     Got rear ended in Daytona bike week by a drunk.    Had to sue his insurance company to get bike repaired.   When I got paid I just bought a bottom fender extension I think they call it, had it painted & stuck it on.     Was going to go with a frenched in license plate again, but never got around to it.

Here is a link to the Custom Chrome Catalog...there are a couple of varieties of lighted plates along with marker/turn lights...most seem to require you buy a separate backing plate.

Is this what you're looking for?

Or, you could search ebay for "curved license plate frame" or "lighted curved license plate frame" in the motorcycle parts section.
I can't help about the shape I'm in

QuoteSo what,,,,,,,,,,,,,, is between da plate n' da fender?

I used a small piece of 3/8's rubber fuel line cut to an angle over the carriage bolts that hold the plate to the fender. It took a couple of tries to get the right angle and amount of hold off from the fender, but the hose is cheap so it did not cost much.

The carriage bolts sort of crush as the plate gets pulled toward the fender. You can not see the hose from above, you actually have to get down on your knees to see the hose pieces behind there.

It is cleaner.  :cooldude:

The OE assembly on my supervalk is a bit (up/down) wobbly.  I have tried various things to tighten it up with no success, and believe it is something to do with the way the fender halves fit together.

It hasn't fallen off yet, so screw it.

BTW, I see you have kept a rear reflector (in compliance with DOT).  Not a bad idea; you never know if you might lose all your lights at night and still try to make it home.

I have one of these too.

A N D,,,,,    ;D    Because there was a square hole,,, where the original wires came thru,, da fender.  :-[

Used one of da stock ones, ground off da tit n' used a fender washer....  :cooldude:

Jess from VA

Ahhhh.  Reflector much more better than bullet hole decal.   :cooldude:

I was also about to write that if that fender tip ever corroded too much to hold good paint, a BBP/Show Chrome rear fender skirt would cover it nicely.  However, that skirt is notched for the OE plate assembly and after studying your pic, I realized the fender shirt notch would show below your plate.... so that is out.  The bottom rear fender tip on one of my bikes is slowly going bad.

I actually prefer the paint on your bike to a chrome trim piece anyway.  I put the fender skirts on both my interstate front fenders (to try and cut down on crap being thrown up on the front end), but none on the back.... like the paint better.   Kind of stupid anyway after I discovered the skirt only extends below the fender tip by about a quarter inch.

BigBad1

Here is a link to the one that I have. http://www.chromeglow.com/store.asp?pid=6929 You can use it for turn signals and remove the stock ones. Mine is all red but they make it with amber if you prefer. I opted to use all four sides for break lights and keep the stock signals but it will work either way. If you don't like the stock reflectors, you can just cut them off (they are just plastic wings).

I put the led array with integral blinkers on the wife's Yami, but used Kury bullets for blinkers (signals in a tail light are not DOT, and I thought them confusing to drivers anyway). I did not hook up the tail light blinkers.

I am still not convinced many leds are better than bulbs.  I follow guys around all day and in the direct sunlight they have no visible tail light, until they ride into the shade, and suddenly they have a very bright tail light (riding in and out of shade under trees, it looks like they are tapping the brake lights).  And these are factory lights.

Bulbs show up in sunlight and shade.

VegasF6

They just aren't doing it right :)
I am quite positive I could build an LED array that would be much more visible than halogen bulbs in daylight or not.

I am not convinced of Kuryakyn bullets DOT compliance either but I won't argue that point :)
Really, ANY modification of stock lighting isn't legal. I suppose this may vary from state to state, but pretty much yah.

At least if we can modify and meet the intent of the law as best as possible though, we are acting responsibly.

At rides people ask me why my taillight and brake light are so bright... I have the radiantz
led array...

As I said, I also have that on on the supervalk, and it seems bright all the time.  Not all LEDs in sunlight are however.

I had a single Radiantz 128 LED light on the rear of MGM.     Any time I went on a group ride, 1 or 2 of the ones following me would roll up beside me at a stop and tell me I'm riding with my brake light on.    I pull forward and ask what you get now.    It is usually oh crap that brake light is BRIGHT, even in direct sunlight.

I have 2 of them on MGM now after my Trike conversion, and they used VTX lights on it. Same deal.........    I've never heard of the LED not being bright in direct sunlight.     If that was the case, the Fed's wouldn't let the car builders use them in their taillights.   Several of the cars have LED rear lights now.

Also, I think it is KIA has LED's for headlights.

Yes RJ, but there are a truckload of sellers selling aftermarket leds for bikes, and some of them are not so good in direct sunlight.
