Hey all,

Well my '98 Tourer has 62k on her, and like some, the rivets holding the clutch damper plate together have broken and I need to get it fixed. I'm very familiar with the procedure but just don't have the time to do it myself. Do any of you know a decent mechanic in the Orlando area that knows his way around a Valk. I have called two shops and they both told me the engine must be removed in order to replace the clutch  Lord have mercy

Thanks in advance

I'm not so sure about that, seems there have been clutches replaced without pulling the engine. Do a search on the Tech Board for more info.

John, I know for a fact it's not necessary to remove the engine. One of the guys on the main board has a nice write up on his clutch replacement. The manual even states that the clutch can be serviced w/out engine removal. I would just like to find someone who's done it before. My wife and I are in the middle of trying to find a new house, pack and getting ready to move. Our house is sitting on a sinkhole which is a story unto itself  :-\

Do you know anything about Central Florida cycles over on Forsyth Road?

It can be done without removing the motor... I just did mine a month ago....

What about the guy you know at Precision Cycle John? Steve, hopefully one of our resident experts may have time on their hands to do it as well. If so, they will speak up.
I still miss her.

That would be great. I would be happy to pay someone to do it

Steve, in case you want to call the guy at Precision, his name is Don Holubik, 407-298-5800. Mention my name if you like. His shop is at 617 Silverton St., heading west on Colonial you turn left at the light where the fairground entrance is. It's on the left, pretty good sized building and has the friendliest Great Dane dog named Blue. He'll knock you over if you're not careful.  ;D

Personal choice would be TJ if I didn't/couldn't do it myself but Lake Flacid Placid is quite a ways south.
