Looking for some help

As many of you know, every year at this time I participate in a shave off to raise money for children's cancer research.  Well it's that time of year again and I'm turning to the great people of the VRCC to help me out.  This will be my 8th year.

I came across the following video on facebook, and though there are very few athletes that I respect, the gentleman in the video below is one that deserves the respect of us all, not for his athletic ability, but for his caring and compassion.

The Journey: Big Ten Basketball 2014 - Adreian and Lacey

Now I'm not a great athlete, but I think we can all be heroes by trying to find a cure for cancer and end the suffering of these innocent kids, they should never have to endure the horror of cancer.

Last year I set my goal at $2000 and thanks in part to the support of the generous people here I beat it and raised $2535.  Our event raised fell short of our $75,000 goal, but we did raise $67,734.  I set my goal for this year at $3000.  Let's beat it!

If you can afford it, please donate on my St. Baldrick's Foundation website at http://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/mypage/698113/2014.  You can donate directly by credit card, over the phone, or by mail.  Credit cards are the easiest.

We have all been blessed, some more than others.  I wish I understood the criteria that determines why some people are subjected to this misery and why some are spared, but I don't.  I only consider myself and my family lucky that we have been fortunate thus far.  My heart goes out to any one who is or knows someone who is fighting cancer.  Let's try to make that fight unnecessary.

Thank you for your support, and ride safely this season.

Sincerely,

Skinhead

cursed appropriate Joe. A very dear, lifelong friend of mine lost her battle with ovarian cancer yesterday. I was sure I would still be in Brazil when her time came, but was able to swing a week home so I could go over and see her one last time. She fought a valiant battle for over 2 years. When she was diagnosed and began the chemo...I shaved my head in support. And my head remains shaven to this day. When I saw her for the last time this past Tuesday, this invader called cancer had consumed her entire body and I was heartbroken to see how it had ravaged her.

In her honor...and in support of your cause...donation sent. Bless you man!

God Bless you man.
In fond memory of my MIL Gene Scott (Momma Barbie)  This is what my 3 year old son called her, because my, now wife BJ, collects Barbies.

Again, thanks for what you are doing.

See you in 2 weeks.

Thank you Fellas.  I don't mind doing this at all, but I really wish I didn't have to do it any more.  I would love for there to be a cure.

GO to the St. Baldrick's site and look for a shave off event near you, then just sign up and let them know you have X inches of hair to donate.  They love that as it gets donated to locks of love or some other wig maker that provides wigs for children with cancer.

OR

Do a google search for locks of love or hair donations or some such if the events have already occured.  They usually hold them around St. Paddy's day.  You could also use the CONTACT button on the St. Baldricks site and leave a message, someone will get back to you.  Or come on up on April 26 and get Scalped with me!

BTW - Thank you for the Donation!

I just checked my web site and all I can say is WOW!  Between the generous folks here and some of my coworkers, I'm up to more than $1300 already!  THAT IS JUST INCREDIBLE!

Thank you to all that have donated, and those of you still on the fence or putting it off until later, there is no deadline, donations can be made at any time.

I am proud of you folks!

My red headed daughter has had her hair cut twice and donated it to locks of love.
A few of my buddies and I shaved our heads when my wifes hair fell out during chemo. Fortunately she's a survivor, thank God.

Thanks for doing this again Skinhead.

Please don't thank me, thank all the donors.

To me this is sort of like a PGR mission, no thanks are needed, it is an honor.
