Rode the bike to work today. Not much of a ride but the first time in 7 months, since my hip surgery and the problems that followed. Wasn't real sure of my self and being able to hold up the weight of it at stops but it went well. And a half hour after getting to work my heart was still pounding like a drum, breath racing and still got a smile on my face! Felt great!

Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

I'm hoping to get out and ride alittle after work today. it will be the 1st time since I broke my back in june of last yr. was supposed to get clearance to ride in November from the dr., but then I broke my arm, and winter hit. hard! I'm a little nervous/ anxious about going.

Grandpa - welcome back to the saddle.  Henry - Getting back on the bike is mostly mental - the muscles remember pretty quickly.

I had my first ride in March after 6 months off due to a back injury/surgery and it was unsettling for about the first mile and then later on in the first big sweeping turn.  I led a group ride to make sure I didn't chicken out and to make sure the group went at my speed in case I wasn't ready.  But since I had to slow down after the twisting turns, I guess the speed was no issue after the first one.

Sure felt good to be back riding. You'll be fine if you just ride your ride - it will all come back to you faster than you expected.

Know what you're writing about. My first stop after leaving the house is down a steep hill to a stop sign and the road is really crowned. Was a little nervous about holding the bike up if it leaned over but I kept it straight and didn't cheat on the turn, no problem. After the first few sharp turns and stops things started feeling like old times, came back fast.

For as long as most of us have been married, I thought you were going to say something else.

I was wondering who would be first to think that, been married 47 years come this July.

I've forgotten how to do it, but, still think about the good ole days.

sounds like you planned the surgery over the winter months on purpose!!  my cycle hasn't seen any movement since last mid-October, so that's 6 1/2 months of pure boredom.....

right now it's covered in saw dust.  daughters got a school project I'm working on....

maybe, just maybe this time next week i'll be riding (but I'm not holding my breath)
