Car tire Recomendations

Maybe coming soon, Dark Side SUPERVALK. I need to replace my rear tire. Looking for the best CT to put on. Mr. Burnout told me someone rides on a Michelin with a little less square side wall to road rubber. Everyone please send me your recommendations. Everyone have a GREAT Memorial Day weekend.

Lots of opinions on this subject.  The austone Taxi tire is one I want to try but haven't. Ran a General Altimax HP and liked it. Now running the Falken ZE512 and it seems good.  Also ran a Goodyear TripleTred and it was good but liked the Altimax better.

205-60-16 is the size I run.  There will be more opinions.

I use Delo400 synthetic Diesel oil, 5W-40 too.

My second DS tire was the Falken Ziex 512 in 205/65-16.  I really liked the way it handled and lowered the rpms just a bit.  My only knock on it was that it was noticeably tall in appearance.  At the right angles from the side, it looked like it didn't belong. 

I'm currently on the General Altimax in 205/60-16 and really like it.

 Hey Supervalk , I have been very pleased with my 205-55-16 Michelin Pilot I have had on my Fat Lady for 4 yrs. and 35,000 miles later .... Its just a plain old passenger car tire with a simple passenger car tread I bought at Sam's Whse. for about $135 and $40 to have it mounted and balanced by my mechanic friend Bob 4 yrs. ago .... When and if it ever wears out I plan on going to the 205-60-16 instead of the 55 series ...

I am running a Michelin Primacy  XV4 205/60 R16.  Lot's better than the Bridgestone HP 550 that I had on before.

I am not a DarkSider (yet) and have never heard of this brand of tire but after reading the above thread and researching some reviews, this may be my next rear tire when my Avon Venom-R wears out.

Thanks haulzazz after reading the post about the Vredestein sportrac-3 I went on e-bay and ordered one to replace my GYTT sounds like a much better choice. The buy it now price was $115 and I did the or best offer price and got it for $100 free shipping and no tax, total $100 for brand new 205-60-16 (not bad).

Word of advice...the tire manufacture date from this seller on eBay is 0108, which makes the tire more than 6 years old. I was going to buy the 205/60 initially but opted for the 205/55 because of the age of the tire.

Glad to hear to you got such a great deal, Curtis.  Look forward to hearing your assessment once you get it installed with a few miles on it (and wouldn't mind seeing/smelling a couple burnouts).

If you get it mounted before Sunshine Kids next Saturday, maybe we can swap Valks for a couple miles?

Hey Fred , Kuhmo has a nice round shoulder tire that looks like an over size M/C tire ... I believe it comes in a 205 - 55 - 16 .... Hey Curtis on those CHEAP INTERNET TIRES , you better ask what was the Birth date is , because if it has been sitting the whse. for a while you don't know how old that tire is .... Just look at the numbers next to the DOT lettering just my .02 cents .... Thanks the Geezer

Richard...the 205/60 was manufactured on 0108. The guy selling it was nice enough to put the dates on the eBay page.

I put my new Vredestein sportrac-3 on yesterday & road it to work this morning, man it was like going back to a mc tire this thing is great. All the bad things about going to the dark side are gone, it is much better then the GTT that I had on. Fred we will swap bikes for a while Sat. so you can check it out if you would like to.

You bet, looking forward to it.  Any difference in burn-outs or does that still remain to be seen? (yes, I still love the smell of burn-outs in the morning  )

Like Thunderbolt suggested - I also run the Michelin XV4, but in the 205/65/16 size. It has a much rounder profile and feels more like a MC tire than the square edge tires. Might cost a little more [about $150], but hey, ya only got one tire back there ya know. Out of the other 5 car tires I've run, I like this one the best !!
