Amplifier for Interstate

If you have a amp on your Interstate would you please let me know the name brand, cost and where you got it. The speakers have been upgraded to Polk Audio db501 all ( 4 ) . Was it worth the cost ? Does it make obvious improvement to the quality of sound ?

No amp, did up grade all 4 speakers to Polk 501's.  Big improvement as originals were toast, but still not the best.  I find that the music sounds better with ear plugs in at highway speeds(cuts down wind and traffic noise) with out ear plugs at speeds below 55.  Needless to say I wear earplugs most of the time.

I have the Polk 501's with a Pyle 400 watt (4x100) marine amp. While not top of the line, a marked improvement over the stock set-up.

Paid under $50 from Amazon.

Did the Polk speakers, installed a Pyle amplifier, sounds like pure crap, not worth the trouble installing. Maybe I did something wrong, but will try another amp. Pyle amp same as above post.

I saw pictures of the alpine mounted on a valk on the Facebook page.

I have been doing hi-end audio for decades ( a/d/s/ for car Jeff Rowland for home) and to cheap out I was going to buy the Pyle amp..  But I couldn't do it as I know I wouldn't be able to live with it.   So I have decided to get the SoundStream ( for the high pass options) when I start the front restoration on my interstate.. 

The ONLY reason I have not bought the SoundStream as of yet is I am still sorting out a battery and rear turn signal issue.  I want to complete the trunk removal, battery and turn  signal issue before I start the front fairing and audio system.

I added audio from scratch for Deerslayer which has a 400w class D Blaupunkt amp, a small preamp/mixer which adds a remote volume dial, 4 Alpine 4" coax speakers in shells, ground loop isolator, bass filters - "Bass Blockers" which are just big capacitors. The amp has hi and lo pass filters. The setup will mix 3 different mini-stereo inputs to add say GPS and radar inputs to the music, and the ability to easily adj volume with the dial rather than say an ipod or phone's worthless volume control.  Wrote it up at http://www.horseapple.com/Valkyrie/Tech_Tips/Jammin_with_Blaupunkt/jammin_with_blaupunkt.html. It's evolved over some time.  Presently use a Zumo most of the time for the music player, though any player with a mini-stereo plug will work - I just put velcro tape on the back and stick it to the tank apron's velcro.  I can hear the music well up to highway speeds, though of course wind noise degrades the quality of the sound at high speed.  If I really cared about that I could set up my helmets with speakers, bluetooth tech for wireless, and batteries.  Too much hassle for the payoff, for now.

Hey joe, I have a 300 watt rockford fosgate pbr300x2. Paid like 130 bucks for it on ebay. Really small and fits great in the fairing.
