What kind of Fairing

Three or four days ago there was some photos of some real beautiful bikes, one in particular caught my eye because of the copper color of the  paint and the fairing set up.  I tried to email the guy, but had no luck.  I would like to know the kind of fairing that was on his bike, again it was copper color.  Thanks,

His most recent photo post was to my 'Fairing Paint Thread' which is now long gone and I can't remember his handle. But, I'm pretty sure it's an HD Batwing fairing. I don't know which year or model fitments, but most all of Harley's batwing fairings can be fitted to our Valk's.

It usually just getting some fork clamps and fabricating or using HD brackets and occasionally carving [opening up] the headlight surround for our massive head lamps. Then just paint & serve...

Here's mine ...........It's an early 80's HD Batwing easily modded to bolt up to the Tourer's original windshield brackets............Normand's if I recall correctly is a later model B/W mounted  slightly different than mine.  They can all be modded to fit, newer models with inner mounted guages, radio, speakers etc. require a little more ingenuity to do.

Another option available is the Radio Caddy Fairing from http://www.trikeshop.com/shop/product/49/radio-caddy-fairing/
I would suggest using their VTX mounting brakets. They match up well. You would also need to change out the headlight to the smaller VTX unit or something similar and rig LED's for your indicater lights sacrificed from the OEM headlight.

Your OEM gauges would need to be relocated to your bars. There's a bit of work involved.

Degree of challenge on a 1-10 scale = 7 maybe an 8 for a creative weekend warrior.

Overall the fairing does a good job at highway speeds.  Keeps the wind off my 52" chest just fine.  Some wind buffeting from below.  Nothing a set of baker air wings couldn't reduce.  My first batwing fairing so I have nothing to comaare it to.  Had a National Cycle windshield and liked it just fine.  The fairing does a better job.  Wanted tunes and that evolved into the fairing. 

The raido sounds good as well.  Four speekers facing you.  With wind noise and glasspacks I can hear it just fine.  Power can come directly from the battery or acc wiring.  I have mine connected to a aux fuse block.  Will post thoes pics. later.  Don't use the Ipod but Jensen has cables for it.  I'm in the process of wiring up a ZUNE.  Will post thoes pics. later also.  I did go with the Sirius radio set up and I couldn't be hapier with it.  Tuner and antenna sold seperatly and not cheep.  But well worth the dough to me.  I also installed a wired remote control.  Mounted it on the left handlebar.  Alot safer than reaching over the tank to change a station.

The wheels are stock chrome plated.  All was fine until the warranty expired and then the back started to peel.
Another project for another time.

For a couple of years now I've studied Normand's and a number of other batwing-fairing equipped bikes...asked a few questions here and there and checked into parts availability. In '07 I modified a Bob Dron Road King fairing mount setup so that I could use it with a Memphis Fats windshield-equipped Tourer. The mini-fairing is nice on hotter days but I wanted a full-coverage unit for the times when the Tourer is pressed into service as a full-on touring bike...namely, when one of our other rigs are down for maintenance. With that in mind - and acting on the advice from a few board members - I started looking around for a 66-84 FL style fairing and set of OEM mounts. I scored both off FleaBay (ooops; ePay!) for a fairly cheap price and in late January I shipped the fairing off to the painters for a coat of Fast Black.

Two days afterward, Blondie and myself are wandering the Cycle World motorcycle show in Cleveland...I'm checking out the vendor areas...what's this? Memphis Shades is now offering a complete Batwing fairing which will work with their windshield mounting setups? And for a price which is half their competition's?

Long story short: I found one online last night for $200, minus mounts and windshield. Though Memphis says it won't work with their old-style mounting hardware, I'm going to try it anyway. The thought of spending $500 for 4 sets of updated mounting hardware just isn't that appealing, and I've got a new set of the older style mounts tucked away for just such an event.

Blondie's Tourer will end up with the newly painted fairing, and we have an extra set of the OEM mounting hardware for it. I'm now thinking about contacting Clearview and having them build a chopped-down OEM-style windshield for her...

ETA - The VTX1800C/R "Exposed Forks" mounts (Memphis P/N 2321-0068) will work on a Valkyrie, according to their customer service rep:
