And the liar in chief does nothing. Whilst releasing 10's of thousands of illegal, criminal immigrants into the USA at taxpayers expense.

Oops, maybe he hasn't read about it yet. As he learnt about the IRS, Fast and Furious, DOJ, etc. Pathetic.

Something smells here, one US citizen crosses the border to Mexico and is thrown in prison, thousands crosses into Mexico from the south and they are given access to cross the country and then cross the same border the citizen crossed with no problems.  Me thinks this smacks of POS US president pre arranging this event with the authorities from the offending countries.  It is plain that he could stop it immediately if he chose, but like yesterday, he chose to play a game of pool and drink beer instead.  Like Benghazi he decides the appropriate thing to do is go on a fundraiser instead of protecting the country.  How does he get to use our tax dollars to spend on a  Democrat fundraiser anyway?  He not only had Air Force 1, but the helicopter, and all the associated hangers on for this, and the guy he was fundraising for didn't even show up.  Probably to him was chump change, a few million of other peoples money, no sweat, a welcome break from the rigors of being a puppet on a string.

Now, now Britman, remember, he is there to campaign for the democrats, not fix the US problems!!

Shame on Perry for expecting this jacka POS POTUS to take some time while he's here to do his job!!!

Maybe when he gets through fundraising on my tax dollars and gets back to DC he'll use his "pen and phone" and fix this problem.

One of the odd ironies is that while they are making a big deal of how it's illegal to cross into Mexico with firearms, the current administration was somehow able to succeed in their "Fast and Furious" scheme with weapons traced into Mexico from the U.S.  Is it one of those things that make you go, "Hmmm?"

I think a bunch of brother marine's should jump in a dozen or so Apache and Black Hawk helicopters and head down across the border surround the pirson and rescue there fellow marine!

Good idea, didn't one of their helicopters cross the border the other day and fire on the Border Patrol.

Jackson Lee waved a bag of lollipops during a Thursday House Homeland Security Field Hearing in McAllen, Texas, and said she took bags of such lollipops to the illegal immigrant children in detention centers during recent visits.

"This is not a national security crisis," Jackson Lee emphasized, noting that she was not armed and did not fear for her life when visiting the children. Jackson Lee said Border Patrol agents claimed the children were some of the most "orderly" and "behaved" children they have encountered.

Let's face it, our president dislikes America, gunowners and the military. He hates gunowners and nothing shows it more than refusing to do anything to help this Marine hero.

And he hates America. I don't see how anyone could doubt that either. He is only willing to take action when it hurts America. From oil pipelines, to our Marine sitting in a Mexican jail, to fast and furious and the other 1000's of things he's probably done that we don't even know about yet.

If it doesn't weaken us, he ain't doing it.

Yes. You can U-turn by just telling the officers around the booth that you have no intention of going into Mexico. ???
A Border Patrol officer moves the cones so you can U turn before crossing. :-\
You can also U-turn on the other side of the crossing.
Yes, it would be a hassle but at least you are not exposing yourself to such dangers. :-\

A more plausible reason is that he was indeed going to Mexico and felt concerned for his safety once there.

And I believe you are making your story up out of whole cloth, Paxton.  IF what you say is true, he knew about mexico, so he would know the guns were totally forbidden there.  Correct?

So, knowing they were forbidden, he walks right up to the Mexican guard, tells him first thing that he made a mistake, and did not want to go to Mexico, wants to turn around and go back to the US, and that he had guns with him.  Everyone, including the Mexicans, agree this is the way it went down.

So, if he was trying to enter Mexico with guns he knew were forbidden, why is the first thing he does, is tell the guard he did not intend to go to Mexico, wants to go back to the US right away, and that he has guns?

Your "story" is so full of holes it won't hold a 10 pound snapper.

I'm sure it can happen. But I've been to Tiajuana numerous times and it is heavily signed for a long ways telling you the border is ahead. Even if you ignored all the signs when you got to the check point you can just stop and not go in. I think there is more to this story that we don't know.

My response to Mexican government about holding a Marine would read something like:

     To Whom It May Concern,
All aid, monetary or otherwise, will cease immediately until such time that our Marine is returned to his rightful country of origin. As an additional incentive to co-operate with our request, all mutual borders will be closed to any but American citizens returning to this country. All Mexican citizens are immediately expelled from the United States of America. It will now a require a visa for all travel to Mexico by American citizens and Mexican citizens wishing to enter the United States of America must obtain a visa beginning immediately. All trespassers will be returned to Mexico City, armed trespassers (i.e. your "policia") will be shot if unconditional surrender is not forthcoming. All expenses for these actions, and the enforcement thereof, will be deducted from any future aid if it is decided by the Congress that Mexico is, in fact, an ally of this United States of America.

Maybe then someone will "si lo entiendo".

I think in light of all else that goes on at the border, it might be wise to wonder if Mexico really is an ally deserving of ANY "aid".

So I guess I won't be the next ambassador to Mexico.

crackerborn;
Your letter is well written and it speaks for many on this board. :)
Unfortunately, International affairs are a bit more complex than what the letter demands. ;)

So, pissing on the Canadians, the Mexicans and the Chinese, to name a few will not work.
In this planet of ours the salient point is that we are all interdependent. ;)

As an example, automotive products and parts coming from Mexico, China, Brazil, Indonesia, Australia...
on and on... are plentiful and less expensive. :)

If you open the hood on an American car, you might discover that none of the systems were made in the USA.
Perhaps not even the tires. :o :cooldude:

And how about our comfort creatures like TV's, sound systems, cell phones, etc.
Were not for the cheap labor in those countries, I'd doubt many of us could afford them. ???

Good letter. Thanks for sharing it.

Paxton,
Yes, I am very well aware that our economy has become a global proposition rather than a big stick. We, Canada and Mexico should be partners in the making the North American Continent an economy that the rest of the world should envy. The sad truth is that our political division, in our own country, and abroad has prevented this from happening. Does that mean we should turn our back on a member of our military that may have crossed the border into Mexico without intending to. Without trying to come off as a isolationist, it is still in the United States of America's best interest to protect the borders and our own. I wish that all differences could be resolved verbally, but sometimes that just is not possible. Discourse is always an option, but first there has to be discourse.

Heck, I'm glad I'm not as honest as that Marine is... I too accidentally rode my Valk into Mexico once, and I had my gun on me. (Actually from all the news of border violence I'd been reading about I had 3 guns on me and another in my saddle bags with multiple magazines for each of them.) I didn't tell them about those though, pulled a U-Turn once inside Mexico and went straight back through customs on the Texas side to get outta there.

I was heading towards the border, I saw the signs saying border ahead, but I figured there'd have to be a parking lot near the border itself before you're committed to crossing. As I was looking for one next thing I know I see a red stop sign that says ALTO in it with a Federales with a 1911 on his hip giving me the international sign for HALT!

I did find it interesting that here you can live quiet easily speaking only Spanish, but even the border guards on the Mexican side refused to admit knowing a word of English.

Between my broken Spanish and hand signs I explained I just wanted to do a U-Turn and go home, it was an accident. I was scared out of my mind I'd be searched and end up in exactly the same situation this Marine is in, but he let me go without a search, and I came back, got through US customs and back into the Republic of Texas...

Breathing the free air never felt so good.

=========================================================================
If you had been at the Tijuana Crossing, your experience would have been the same. ;)

You would have made an "immediate" U-Turn at the Entry / Exit Plaza.
No need to continue into Mexico proper. :-\

In either case you would be dealing with the US Border Patrol on both sides of the US entry point.

The going into Mexico booth is virtually a "Welcome to Mexico" kiosk, without the Mariachis. :2funny:
You don't have to show any docs, unless you plan to stay in Mexico for over 72 hours.

Moreover, if you stop before entering and tell the Border Patrol officers in the US side that you need to U-turn,
they'll remove the cones to facilitate your doing so.

Now, suppose that our Marine had not been stopped or arrested while in Mexico.
Upon return to the US crossing, the BP would certainly have asked if he's carrying any weapons.

The answer been yes, he would be detained, searched and perhaps charged with Firearm Transport Across
International Borders, literally a US Federal Crime. :o

No "let me call my attorney" at the border with the BP. Even if the BP lets him go, he'll be questioned for hours on end
with no attorney present. Don't ask me how I know that. ???

So, it is not like he would have been waved through the border into the US and thanked for his service to the nation. ???

Were I in his predicament, I would want the Mexican authorities to confiscate my weapons. ;)
Without weapons, he might not even have to get out of his vehicle while going through the check point into the US. :)

No matter what, it was an unfortunate mistake and I truly hope for his well being. :cooldude:

PS: If he did not buy Mexican Insurance, which obviously he did not, he did not display the Insurance sticker,
which is cause to get stopped by La Policia or Los Federales. Again. Don't ask me how I know that.  ;)

Friends;
I think most folks agree that it could have accidentally happened.
Unfortunately, showing the road signs on the right was less important than watching Greta talk.

There was one sign just coming up when suddenly, Oops... the camera went to Greta so we could have the route explained to us.
After all, who needs signs. (pun intended) ???

It was well done. I just wish we would have had the opportunity to see the entire route for ourselves.
She did a good job explaining. I could hear her clearly.

I would have preferred  to "get the whole picture."  As they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words." ???

BTW, have those  dinner "friends" come out to stand up for our Marine? I would think that them appearing on an interview with Greta
would be powerful evidence to his defense. :-\

They probably have been interviewed. Am just not aware of it. :-\  I do hope that they'll show up as witnesses on his trial. ;)

Notwithstanding, it is what it is. Our guy is in Mexico and we want him back safe and sound. :tickedoff:

Upon his release, I would gladly go into Mexico, bring him to my home and let him kick back for a while. It would be my honor.  :)

Whoa! A Valkyrie motorcade would be awesome! :cooldude:

The friends he was going to meet for dinner in San ysidro would be welcome, as long as they buy the beer and know how to cook! :2funny:

Indeed, his family would be welcome too. I can fit them all in my three bedrooms. :-\
Meathead and Don can sleep in the Cordoba's trunk. :2funny:

I continue to wish for his safe return to us. :-\  I think we are all wishing the same, including Greta and the camera guy. :-

I sure hope Don is a MMA Expert ! I'm just an old man that likes to watch MMA   :2funny:

..

Well damn.

I'm starting to like this "new" Paxton.

The one without the "cute" one liners.

The one with a reasonable discourse.

Doesn't mean I agree with everything but is sure makes it easier to think about having a cogent written discussion.
