So glad the bike is heavy and so glad it's got a crash bar. I didn't drop the bike nor damage the engine... And drove away from the accident.

My brother was on his tourer on the way home from Coeur D'Alene, ID to Caldwell, ID. At New Meadows he was traveling 65MPH and a deer ran across the road in front of him. He hit the deer in the hind quarters with the left side of the bike. He watched as the deer cartwheeled across the road behind him. To his amazement, the bike kept rolling after the impact. He pulled off the road to check things out. Couldn't find any damage at all......there was a small trail of green in his undershorts which he fixed a little later.

Big, sturdy, heavy...  :cooldude:

Bout 3 years back, I was second in line after exiting the freeway, waiting to turn right.  Woman in front of me with a Honda Oddesy Minivan.  Looking left, the coast is clear...  She pulls out to go, I do the same, then WHAM!!!  She stopped for a pedestrian, J Walking in front of her, and I caught her left rear bumper/tailgate  :uglystupid2:

I had moved such a short distance, that I had not had time to put my feet on the floorboards (had bruises on both shins from hitting them).  Her van had over $2500 in damage (bumper, tailgate, left rear quarter panel, and stuff underneath).  Broke off a running light/turn signal, and garfed up a half dollar sized part of my fairing.  My fix was some JB weld, and a touch of paint...

Big, sturdy, heavy

Had a friend coming out of Palatka Florida earlier this year, east bound (bike week time frame) at o'dark thirty on his HD when he struck a deer. Lost his right leg, but doing ok now. First car to come upon him, looked at crash & him laying there and drove off. Second car stopped and used his belt to turnicate his leg. Doc tried to save it in the hospital but no go.

What a ray of sunshine. Help the guy if you take the time to stop anyway!
