A thousand hits ?  I've been around for quite awhile, when did that happen ? I don't remember very many, but, I'm getting old, so..

The only folks that I seem to remember not posting lately are most of our resident liberals. Too bad, there used to be some nice discussions, errr, arguments.  ;D

Gryphon Rider

Yeah, it used to be you'd NEVER see four-day-old posts on the first page of the Tech board, either.

Yep, the tech board sure has changed over the years.

Willow

Things do change and are not usually what they used to be.

Sometimes folks shoot their mouths off before looking.  On the first two pages of the General board we have, not including pinned posts, three threads with over a thousand hits each.

You're counting the "last word" thread, aren't you.  Aren't most of those views you and RJ?  ;)

my fault Tom

I stopped researching for  secretary threads when I hired Stacy

there was a time 500 hits+ before dinner on some of those especially during the winter

Of course, for the club, I am willing to start again if there is demand for it from
others besides you   :2funny:

Just wont ACTUALLY hire any of them

link to last secretary thread inquiry is here  only got 603 hits (300 of them you Tom)

It was one of the three.  Actually, Gryphon's rider, I don't pull that thread up very often.  Even discarding that one, which is mainly frequented by a handful, there are still two current threads with over a thousand hits.

Tom is correct, though, in that activity has diminished some over the past couple of years.  There are several reasons for that.  Maybe Tom or I were one or two of those reasons.   ;)

Number one reason........FACEBOOK.  It will eventually be the death of this board....Probably not the VRCC but this board.  ;)

A couple of local motorcycle forums have made the switch from "Meetup" to Facebook.

There's so much crap associated with Facebook. I get "stuff" on my page and I only really signed up to try and find a college friend who was living in France.

Now I get "friend" requests from complete strangers.

They can go and "f f f friend" someone else.

BobB

As far as the Tech Board is concerned, IMO, members may finally be taking the advice and using the Search function before posting questions.  But then again, are we that bright?

Jess from VA

Regarding the tech section, there is also the issue of the age of our bikes and members and that many of us have a pretty good handle on our bikes, have made the mods we wanted long ago, and except for the occasional problem, are running fine and free.

Of course, this leaves more time for guns, politics, religion, current events, work, yard, trucks, health issues, and secretaries.

It's all good.   :cooldude: ;D

Some of us have grown quiet or gone elsewhere because of the constant political and religious nonsense along with a much more adversarial feel to the board in the last few years.  It's just not what some of us are here for.  I know, I know..."If you don't want to see it, don't click on it." I get that but some folks just don't want to have to wade through all that garbage to find what they're looking for here, namely motorcycles, riding, camaraderie, etc.  Just my $0.02.  Flame away.

BF

All of "the constant political and religious nonsense" of which you speak is part of our everyday lives....as is this "General" board.

It seems that most of those that have left because of "the constant political and religious nonsense" are those that disagree with the folks that hold a different viewpoint other than theirs.

It would be a very boring world if we all held the same view.

Alien

Agreed, but personally, I don't choose to discuss those topics with anyone.  It's just too devisive.  This came about a few years ago when I realized that political differences were coming between my dad and I.  We don't talk politics anymore and all is well.

Misfit

I agree with Detn8ter. Facebook SUCKS. It will surely be the demise of this board. I have never been on Facebook, but I know that I am in the minority. One day they will be on Facebook wondering what happened to the VRCC. At that point it will be too late.  :-\

I joined Facebook and then quickly unjoined (is that a word?).

I don't like to feel like Big Brother is looking for more info on me.  Online is bad enough.

I too think the board has changed somewhat.  We are all getting older and so are the Valkyries.

Unlike Clark, tho, I don't miss some like the pot stirrer from Canada, Vmax?, i think.

Both of these thoughts have merit.  Sadly, so do the Facebook comments with respect to this forum.

I signed up for Facebook way back when my bosses son, when I drove shuttle,  got killed in Afgan.

He was out of Marine Corps Boot Camp 9 months when he went over.

3 days after landing he was in a box headed home.

His dad sent me a picture the other day of his daughter graduating from the Marine Corps Boot Camp.     She was one damn cute honey.

I got in on a hack job on Facebook and it took me to Craig's List and hacked up my computer.

When I got my puter restored, Craig's List & Facebook both got tossed in the garbage can and deleted.

Sorry, I no use either and don't intend to start now.

Son comes out to my garage, finds things that I have and don't use anymore and puts them on Craig's List.

Yesterday at lunch he handed me $500.00 he had gotten for 4 tires and a set of headers.    The tires were old mud & snow tires made by Goodyear, and the one pair was on the back of my old 51 Chev Pickup, and I put that old bad boy places 4 wheel drives got stuck.

The old pickup had a Corvette 6 banger engine, 1 carb so as to look like a sleeper, Vega 4 speed and a 69 Chev Impala rear end, and a Fenton set of headers.   It went FAST, so I put disc brakes on all 4 corners.   I drove it 7 years and sold it.    The guy who bought it, knew it was FAST, I gave him a ride and warned him not to hand it off to someone who just got a drivers License.  He gave it to his 16 year old son who wound it out, and hit a curve he could not maneuver at that speed.

Sorry, I will not say what the outcome was, it was not good. :'( :'( :'(

Sorry for the hi-jack I did here.

The only thing constant is change, some good some bad. Enjoy the moment, regardless it will never come around again. Why look back and wish things were a certain way, look forward and say how can I make it what I want now. Sounds like platitudes but I see to many looking for what they are comfortable with instead of changing to what the times offer. Facebook is just a bigger VRCC board that's all. We joined because of the Valkyrie that like anything is a fleeting interest so as interests change so do the people. I have heard talk many times that this board will be deceased soon even by some of its original crew, but I still see it going on. So we come here with a special interest, with a select group that ride the Valkyrie, an unusual bike in itself and expect things to be usual.  We share a interest but are a diverse group in life why not enjoy the diversity even in the pot stirring and all the little annoyances, because like everything in life this shall pass too and then we will look back and say that was a awesome board and a good time. With groups that got together helped each other and rode the Valkyrie that was great bike, I sure wish I could do that again. Thank you to the VRCC staff, creators, and all that keep it going.

Mark..NAILED IT..it used to be I crawled outa bed and hit the message board to see whether or not I got the BOOT before I even emptied my bladder.. it was SOO MUCH FUN..as far as the 2 canadians goes.. it was ME that called Brummer out on his first comments about our military..it went on for months and was a good time. even when he threatend me physically.. after I explained he may wanna think before he made threats and WHY it was still fun jousting with him.. the mr Vmax jumped in the fray.. he too was fun at first.. but then he went over the line.. after he crossed that line I was glad to see him BOOTED.. these days fb has replaced the message board as the first thing i gotta check out.. you guys that avoid fb are prolly smart..
