1800 GW wide adjustable brake lever question

Ok. I took a chance and bought a pair of these.

So I installed the brake lever and noticed that the part of the lever that actuates the master cylinder doesn't cover the actuating pad as well as the stock lever:

Has anybody else done this mod and had any problems? Any fixes?

How is it on the clutch side. Does the switch work well?

The clutch side is great! The stock unit was just slightly too far away for my stubby fingers without reaching for the lever. The 1800 lever set on position 2 is just the right distance for me.

I install them all the time. Big Bike Parts makes the ones that I am using. Just cut the little ear off the clutch lever and it will work fine

Thanks for getting back to me! So there's no worry about the lever being offset to the side of the plunger on the master cylinder?

I've been riding with these levers for about 40K miles. You have to grind down the tab on the brake side, but once you've played with the clutch side to get her to start in gear, they work great.

Could someone please answer Icelander's question? I think he wants to know if it is normal that the Goldwing adjustable levers don't line up with the plunger to the master cylinder (brake side) as well as his stock levers did. Also, if grinding down the tab is what will remedy this. This would help me as well. Thank you.

Icelander is correct.  The brake leaver doesn't line up as well as the Valk leaver does, but it works every time and covers more of the master cylinder plunger as the lever is pulled more.  I love mine for their looks, feel, and adjust-ability...Jim   (If anyone cut the tab off their brake leaver, you might ought to check and see if your brake light is functioning properly when that lever is pulled.)

Yes, I had them on my Valkyrie until the brake side was destroyed in an accident.  They are the best control handle upgrade you can do IMHO

I only had to cut the tab on the clutch side as it interfered with the full motion of the lever. The tab on the brake lever is bigger but doesn't interfere. I finally got to ride it today and the new levers are SO much better.

I made sure that the brake light switch is working and fully functional.
