I have another real dumb question, this will really hit the fan

Um, sometimes everything doesnt have a reason, and sometimes everything isn't logical. Sometimes, a picture is just a picture.

I have a temporary avatar since I have not found anyone that still develops Plus-X pan so I can take a real picture of the Big Girl.  :(  And the Silver Nitrate process for black and white film is with the Dodo Birds. Good luck getting some of the old process chems since 9/11 and new EPA regulations. Anyone remember Hasselblad and Mamiya medium format cameras?

Why worry about what others use as avatars and post pictures of? If it is bragging, maybe the poster feels it is an accomplishment worth bragging about. Or maybe it is just sharing, unless Ansel Adams is posting, I prefer to think of trip and/or bike photos as sharing. If Mr. Adams were to post (posthumously), it would be art. The best part of a forum like this, you can not look if you prefer.
Life is about the ride, not the destination.

I like looking at my bike.  I like looking at Bighead's bike.  I like looking at Smokin' Joes bikes with his money shots.  I like looking at everyone's bike.

And yes, I'm proud of my bike.  I took a plane Jane '97 red and white and stripped it down to the frame and motor and built it back up to what I wanted.

Yes, I'm proud of my bike and I like showing it off.  I don't care if you like looking at it or not.

btw Romeo....I don't usually care for custom paint or flames, but I have to say, I really like the paint on yours.  It's not overly done.  Good job.   :cooldude:

Well, as for me.......when I take a ride, I use to post ride reports of it and have now started again here, so to me, it is a Trip Blog.  I send the link to my brother and daughter so they can share as well.  I hope I don't offend anyone by posting pictures of my bike (which I am proud of how she looks) along the trip - since I am usually riding alone (just me and my bike) so yes, my bike is in a lot of the shots.  Mainly the pictures are taken for ME - but I like to share with people here that might be interested - including the occasional "food shot" since, again, for me, it is part of the trip.

For some reason, I think posting a shot of your bike on a road trip might be of interest to some members of the VALKYRIE RIDERS CRUISER Club - but what do I know?

When I sit over here in Africa, I dream of getting home and getting on Traveller and seeing something - somewhere.  I spend a lot of time here (once again), checking out the pictures of places - yes, even signs with a bike in front of it.  I have changed plans for rides, etc., because of shots that other people have posted.  As for the signature posted bikes, I know a lot of riders when they get to a ride in because I recognize the bikes.......The reason I said "once again" above was that I quit checking out the VRCC for awhile just for that reason - I used to have to go to page 4-5 just to see a post that had anything to do with people here or riding or a get together for people here.  That is one of the GREAT ENJOYMENTS of the VRCC to me....I LOVE TO CHECK OUT THE PICTURES - makes the ride reports much more personal and alive.

Oh, by the way, have I shown you a picture of my bike lately? Let me flip through the pictures of my grandchildren..... :D :D :D

Please keep posting your ride pics guys, I for one enjoy seeing your great photos of Valkyries and Valkyrie rides on this great Valkyrie forum :cooldude:
I used to post lots of pics from every ride. I received negative comments more than once regarding it. I thought Valkyrie folks enjoyed it as well as myself?
I finally just quit doing it, narrating and editing rides was time consuming and my free time is valuable. I do enjoy yours :cooldude:

You worry too much about little stuff. It must be a bitch when you have a real problem  ;D

You make a really good point there!!  You see: snake bites are little, viruses are little, bullets are little, kidney stones are little, and need I go on, we know how they generally end up!!  I pay attention to the little problem and meet those head on, that is why I don't have to worry about major problems, and they get taken care of before they can start.

Don't get the impression that I think your Pics. are wrong, I just say I don't understand the reasoning of the persons intentions.
Those items you listed are indeed "little things" with a large impact.  But in the original statement (and other times it has been used) regarding worrying about little things has always implied >>> little things that don't really matter, the things you list don't really fit the category of "don't really matter".

Tundra - enjoyed yours as wells brother!  Please, bring them back!  The people, the bikes and the rides - was why I come.

To me, it's nice to see the bike that's associated with the owner. One pic is fine. Lots of pics, unless it's of a road trip, not so nice.  Too much trouble to read the text.

Of course, that's just me.  No big deal.  Life's too short!  :)

Dang straight  :cooldude: I've been thinking about it that way for a long
time. Here's what you get if you google "hubcap's valkyrie pictures"... I
love being able to remember these trips so well, especially in the middle of the
winter, or anytime...  :)

The pictures are gone from some of them now, the server (hubcap.clemson.edu) was finally
decommissioned... probably the first web server in South Carolina. I have all the data,
and when I find a "blog post" with missing pictures, I can edit the post and change all the
"hubcap.clemson.edu"s to "myweb.clemson.edu", and the pictures come back...

You need to watch (without interruption and bathroom breaks) every episode of the original "Star Trek" and then decide which character is the one which Gene Roddenberry intended to be the protagonist of the series, Spock or Kirk? :-\

That will give you your answer, grasshopper. ;)

Cliff!! I don't like being critical, but what planet are you from? You say one should not sweat the small things. Do you read the news paper or watch the news, can you see the condition of our country. It was not done due to large problem, large problems we would not tolerate it, it was due to those small thing you refer to, the seemingly unimportant things that is deteriorating our way of life as we speak a bit at a time. Don't get paranoid, just pay attention, for me keeping an eye on those small things have literally saved my life and my health.

So...analyzing the possible reasons why someone's signature picture is so big might lead to an insight that could save your life?
I've added a picture in my signature line that will hopefully bring you peace and happiness (and not make Willow scroll too much).

It is a style of photography we all learned about at InZane a couple of years
ago. Since "a couple of years" is a long time for me to remember accurate
details   I'll just say it involves several layers of the same picture
taken at different light levels or something like that. Gives a bunch of depth
and color richness that "normal" photos lack...

It reminds me of a program I own called Vue6 it creates  environment  and backgrounds. It was used in many movies like Indiana Jones and Pirates of the Caribbean. Great pic, I guess it is too crisp and no depth of field, caught my eye.
