To each his own :cooldude:

It's still a cool bike though dude...I dig Hondas man..always have...I'm sure it hauls ass and is a blast to ride..  As much as I love this new Valk..it is taking sometime to get used to...I love the lines...but the lack of 'organicness' is something I am getting used to...Definitely more of a sport bike in a way looks wise....

Still makes me grin after 18 yrs when I twist her throttle.

Your new Valkyrie should out perform and handle my old Valkyrie................

But, my fat girl is so much better looking.    ;)

Ride her like you stole her.     No, don't do that.   Get used to her first.    :cooldude:

I like the plastic, it is used for its light weight. It don't rust. Dropping a wrench or hammer on the tank or fenders will result in a scratch more likely than a dent and a scratch. In the last 30 years it has proven itself to be very durable in M/C's and cars/trucks. Just look at all the well cared for Goldwings with well over 100k miles and look near new. It is the times we live in.

I owned two I/S super valks and shadow 1100 tourer, sill have one I/S for now. Have about 350 miles on new GWV. To me the 97-03 Valk is the single most beautiful bike ever produced and it would have been an awesome thing to be one of the ones that bought one new and drove of the lot in the day, you would have known that you made the best choice with in a few feet rolling off the lot onto the open road. That is how I felt with the new Valk.  Na she ain't purdy and she ain't a phat lady moreover I feel she is more GW naked than a Valk. Think about the first gold wings. But it is a tough looking bird! The 350 miles of driving so far have given me the best motorcycle joy in 40 years of twisting metrics of all flavors and styles.  But when I search EBad or Craigs list for bike porn I am not searching for the 2014 Valk, I will always look of for the phat ladies.  To the keepers of the faith like Bighead  :cooldude:  keep these phat ladies on the road so I can drool!

I agree that the new valk is not as nice looking as my old I/S, but it is a totally different style of bike.  I don't get as many looks as before but I think that is because the new valk does not look anything like a HD.  A lot of people thought my I/S was some sort of HD.  :uglystupid2:  I do miss my I/s but I wanted something lighter and newer, and the new valk fits the bill perfectly.  Even more so when I put my new bars on and get the Corbin seat.

Someone who thought your IS was an HD was blind or never even sat on a bike :2funny:
Also the new VALK has grown on me a bit but can't see myself on one as I need some room to pack :tickedoff: so If I were to go new it would have to be the F6B. But won't part with my Bee as the day I rode it off the dealer lot New I said to myself it is mine til I die or it does :coolsmiley: I could be talked into parting with the IS however

With Honda hardware to mount saddlebags of your choice and a back rack how does the b give more pac room?   ???

Bighead

To have the room would have to put Corbin bags on as I don't care for leather or leather substitute bags. Also I like the B with the fairing :cooldude:
And B already has bags.

Ok however with the Honda hardware one could but first gen Valk look alike bags as the champion patriot.  And the new Valk euro Windshild I have is the same shape as the show chrome on my I/S.    So....

Corbin bags are a bit smaller than real-Valkyrie bags. Pretty cool, though.

I made these ugly brackets to hold a Givi trunk (I have two sizes) I can put on
when making a long trip...

I have OEM bags and a 55 litre Hepco Becker top box mounted on the OEM rear rack, works well, I can't post pics here, I won't use any on line pic hosts. I'll email you pics if you like.

I do wish there was *a bit* more chrome...I kinda of wished the removable side covers were the same color and finish as the bike...Not sure I like the $200 chrome side pieces...However, I get A TON of looks on this bike...seriously...some bikes try catching up to me to get a look at it and I leave em' in the dust...the bike is just SO fast...and it's not broken in yet....

It's really an engineering masterpiece man...I mean how quick you can snap it from left to right...passing cars is like zero effort....come up behind them at 65, snap it to the left...and rock the throttle to 90 in seemingly seconds...The tires are killer..in the sweepers it BEGS you to drag the pegs...

You know what would have been cool...not that it's imperative...is if Honda would have put giant chrome circular air cleaner/intakes on either side of the bike...That would have given the bike a real hot rod appearance...kinda like the old 'six pack' engines of the past...

but then there would have been some aerodynamic penance... :-X

oh and btw...what I also LOVE is the sound of the bike...it is so different...especially up here in Harley land where it's 'thumpity, thump, thump everywhere...  It sounds almost like a Indy car...I wish the baffles were like 10% less restrictive...just *a tad* louder you know? :coolsmiley:

LOL - Mike are you retired?? Where do you get this time - yet another great idea here  :cooldude:

Fine mr. wizard how about this, take off the wing handles and put them in a drawer and using the two vertical mount holes fabricate a small mount vertical to horizontal for a slide in slide out mount for a trunk (like super Valk) or for other option saddlebags.   Just my wandering mind here.   ???

Where do you get this time

I got the bike last July (2014) and only started riding it with any
regularity this spring after I finally got done with all the comfort
mods...

I like the idea of making a removable trunk mount to replace the
wing handles, but making such a thing that wasn't hideous is
beyond my pay grade...

You can buy covers if you want to remove the rear handles. $100.  08F75-MJR-670ZB

Mike now that was funny!

I bought the black R fender covers and from your good information on the Corbin's (3 more weeks) I have decided to take the handles off and put the covers on and forget saddlebags at least for now.  Maybe when the brutal unbareable Florida winter is back I will re-entertain bags.  So when Sherry is with I will use the Corbin and when solo I will run the Honda driver seat.  I noticed online a small rear rack that slides on the  Corbin passinger back rest shaft. Should take care of a lightweight bag for the wife's must have important stuff like makeup and a hair brush.  When solo what do I need -----phone

Also I will offer the stock Honda sissy for sale when the Corbin is in.

I also like some chrome, I'm no fan of the today blacked out look. As soon as I need new tires I will have my wheels powder coated silver/gray. I don't think the side covers need to be chrome either but its easy and cheap to paint them silver/gray, it would brighten up the sides nice.

I can swap back and forth on the 97 from solo to passenger-with-trunk in 15 or 20 minutes.

It would take a lot longer to do that on the new Valkyrie, I think you have to
take the fender off to exchange the rear handles with the fender covers.

The rear handles mount the rear rack, and I mount the Givi trunk on the rear rack.

I dig them all.

Just got back from a tour of the Atlantic Coast of Florida, down to the Keys and back.

I've never received so many compliments, questions, and conversations about a motorcycle I've owned as with this one. Every time I stopped I'd get something positive from other riders and cagers, old and young. Nobody ever said "eww too much plastic!" or any of the usual e-gripes we hear about the new Valks.

I dig pretty much everything on 2 wheels but this bike is something special (preachin to the choir, I know!)

From the looks to the specs and the on-road performance and rideability (ok fine, the stock seat is a brick lol) it's all top-notch.

Sad to think I'm (we're) already looking back on the 1832 Valk through rose-tinted glasses. We know it's coming! Sigh...

So yeah, to the OP... ditch the broad!  ;D
