It finally happened

Well, it happened and I needed to get over it. I let my brother in law ride my 1998 Valkyrie standard, while I rode that damn Harley. We were having a good time up in Vermont, looking at all the pretty trees and all, when he fell down doing 35ish maybe less. It doesn't take much for a insurance company to total a Valkyrie these days. But the payout was quite a bit more than I expected. If you wonder if it's prudent to keep that fire/theft/collision on your Valkyrie, I can assure you it is.

So, it took a month of waiting, for it to all fall out, but the insurance company sent me a check for full replacement value. I found a very nicely optioned Black Interstate with 73K buried in the 5th page of the VRCC classifieds. The bike was located in Minneapolis. Can you spell Road-Trip?
The new one has the Fog lights, CB/Intercom, some nice bling without being a chrome whore.

I think we'll learn to get along. I tried... for a day or two.. but I couldn't live without one.

Was the weight of our gals a wee tad might too much fer him?  You do realize with a Valkyrie rider on the jury the worst that would have happened was a hung jury!  Glad the insurance came thru but getting a Valkyrie parted out before it's time Is way sad!  I'll try NOT too speculate here other than what I already stated-difficult as that are!  RIDE SAFE.

Sorry, I guess I should have been more specific. He's fine, he broke a couple ribs and losty a few weeks of work, but he was more upset about the bike than anything else.

It was a low speed go down, in soft mossy sand. Sorry I didn't say more about his condition.

I stripped off some stuff. But a lot of it is gone. I have a number of pieces that I'm going to ut up on the Classifieds for a good home.. not really to make money from it. The bags are gone, and is the light bar.

He isn't an experienced rider and although he's had his motorcycle license for many many years, he maybe rides a few times a year. He came over a blind rise and there was a easy left curve on the other side and I think he just got target fixation. Allhe needed to do was push left and look where he wanted to go.. but he just drifted off the road.

He's a big guy, 6'4" and 240lbs.. it was just a inexperienced rider mistake. I thought he was a better rider. Really my fault for letting him ride it. They were both my bikes, it wasn't him riding mine and me riding his.

Well, can't resist... Tell him he looks like an "Indian" but you're going to call him a "Drifter" (Kawasaki reference there)...

Yeap, his biker nickname should be "Drifter"....

A friend of mine didn't think to top off for gas before we started a ride, this after stopping at three different stations to pick up other riders.

Well, we just gets out of a canyon about three miles up the road and he runs out of gas. His last name starts with "D" so we nicknamed him "STD", short for "Short Tank D______". Hah, his wife had even suggested he "top off."

I did that exact thing. A harley friend and I switched bikes. He had a police bike,I did not like it. He rode off the road due to him not being used to the car tire (after I warned him about it). He went about 40' down off the road in gravel and ended upside down. I got off his harley and dropped it down. Darn it was hard to pick up my Valk. It was facing down hill with both wheels facing up hill. He was a big guy about 6'3" and 225 lbs. Happy to say the Valk was ok.

Hard lessened learned for sure, do NOT let anyone else drive your cycle of any kind.

I cannot, since if a non-family member rides my bike, NO insurance on it especially NO medical coverage as well if he/she gets hurt, I am screwed outta my own pocket.

Stuff, bad stuff, happens all the time even though it seems not likely it would happen.

Good thing though even at a so-so mileage of 73k,  you have the FASTEST color now and looks to be nicely equipped as well.  Black and just the right amount of chrome looks VERY sharp when cleaned up but the hardest color to keep clean and not show scratches.

   What few times I have had a person ask me, "can I take it for a ride"? My reply is always the same thing. The Lone Ranger didn't even let Tonto ride Silver!
