bar mounted windshield dangerous??

have been seeng a few handlebar mounted windshields for sale...don,t look safe to me ,,anyone have a opinion??

The Valk world is filled with handlebar mounted windshields, along with handlebar mounted fairings. I'm not sure what you are looking at, but, handlebar mounted windshields have been in use for almost as long as motorcycles have been.

I've had no issues with them and have one on my 1200 standard wing.

From an airflow viewpoint, there's no difference between fork mount and handlebar. Side winds affect you but I have never had any issues. Rode one day in NM with a 60+ mph side wind. Most trouble I had was trying to keep my helmet from pulling on my neck.

 have never seen one on a valk,,and was  seeking information from experinced riders  so no Im not kidding...

Go to Just Pics on the front page. You will probably see a windshield like the one you spotted on ebay, mounted on a Valk. Most windshields that we use on our bikes mount forks and bars, giving more support. Even the Interstate fairing mounts that way, and the Tourer does, right from the factory. I have seen even the wind cutter type, that mounts to just the handlebars.

It seems that handlebar mounted windshields are usually pretty small, I
guess too much wind pressing on a bigger shield would overcome the
mounting brackets.

I used two sets of Memphis Shades mounting brackets and the OEM
shield for the new Valkyrie. Since the above picture I have cut the shield down
some (to look over it) and changed its angle... I like it as much as the
shield on my Tourer now...
