VTX headlight on Valk

I have seen mention of this and looking at a couple of the photos it looks like a great modification.

Can anyone tell me what is involved in fitting one as it may be a good alternative to replacing the standard headlight?

A new VTX headlight is just as pricey as many quality aftermaket headlights (Adjure for example), but most aftermarket headlights do not permit stuffing the OE wire harness inside the bucket. That's why I went with the VTX 1300 unit and mounting bracket. It also matches up perfectly to the Valk's lower clamp. You may need to shim it with chrome spacers to line up well with a windscreen or fairing.

I don't care for the way the VTX unit is halved together. It does allow, for instance, the color painting of the bucket portion. That is a sharp application. My halving seam is somewhat concealed by the fairing and I'm ok with that.

I have a vtx 1800 an it fits perfect but it is about $500 an plastic.I think I would look for a after market alum. one.The valk light I did not like.I also had to change my windshield an got a vtx 1800 shield an it fit right on at a price of about $500

Everything fits perfect. Same boltholes.
If you have a windshield you will maybe have the headlight a litle bit higher. I did that.
I made a bracket, you can see it on thIS picture.

Thanks very much for all the input on this, I like the look of the bike with this light and the BOSS likes it even more than I do so that helps with the finances.  :)

I recently did the conversion myself.  I got a headlight cheap off of ebay and purchased the mounting hardware at the local Honda Stealer.  The swap was fast and easy.  I had to look for a while, but I got out with just over $200 in the swap.  I kept my old headlight just in case I ever want to go back.  Right now, I dont see that happening.

As we all know, the headlight on the Valk are not the best. Personally I dont like lightbars so I wanted to give this option a chance ---and I dont regret.
The VTX headligt gives better light and better looking.

I have a VTX1800 and feel the light on my Std. is far better. I changed my VTX to an HID set up and love it. If you are just looking for better light output, this may be a way to go. The HID with high and low beam is amazing.

The company I used was www.customdynamics.com . They  told me which style bulb and system I needed. They also explained the difference in the color spectrum that HID puts out. Some have a blue tint, but the one I bought was pure white. Very bright on the high beam as well as the low. I re-adjusted the head light adjustment so I didn't blind other drivers. I have never had an on coming driver blink their lights at me.

The first time I hit the hi's, I couldn't believe it. It was like daylight.

By the way, Cruiser Customizing has a selection of HID lights as well.

The install was easy and well worth $150.00. I think they have gone up since I bought mine.

I have always thought that you had completed a very sweet setup. The VTX headlight, along with the other mods, looks awesome on your Valk. Congrats!  :cooldude:
