Police Lt. Joe Gliniewicz RIP

  Officer G I Joe as he was known , was gunned down in Fox Lake Illinois on Tuesday morning on his way in to his shift. He noticed some suspicious activity and called in for back-up. A few minutes later , he was found dead at the scene a short distance from his Squad Car. A military Veteran , father of four boys and a husband that was going to retire at the end of September. He was the son of a neighbor that we grew up across the street from. I do not remember how to post a link to his info. If someone would do this , I would be grateful. The wanted are still at large. A manhunt continues. ( man-hunt -chicken squat) Joe was the kind of guy to lecture you instead of giving you a ticket!

This is terrible.  Too many police are being killed just for being police.  We're moving in a very bad direction because the guy steering the ship is useless.  Not one word about our fallen police from the white house or obama.  He and folks like him at the city level are creating an atmosphere where it's war against police. 

Where ever the next anti police rally is, wherever they march and chant for police lives to be taken, wherever that may be, police should just pull out.  If they march in Cleveland, let's see how Cleveland feels about cops after 2 days of no police in sight.  Same for Baltimore, same for NYC, same for anywhere.  Give them what they wish for, no police.

Fox Lake is not that far from where I grew up. That friend of mine that I ran up on 2 months or so ago worked with this L E O that was gunned down. My brother and I eat at a resturant in Fox Lake at least once when I'M at hi place. R I P Joe.  Far as zero goes took him 3 days to acknowledge the officer hat was gunned down in San Antonio. RIDE SAFE.

Anything to back up your claim that any of us to this point said it was zeros fault? Just in case you weren't payin attention all I said was took zero 3 days to say anything about the L E O that was Gunned down in san Antonio. Within in hours of the thug that was taken down by a L E O in Ferguson zero was front and center saying what a tragedy or words to that effect. And to further elucidate-when I say zero I'm talkin about the obuminater OR IF that's not clear enough-the current sitting potus. But-AGAIN to be clear-the current state of race relations in this country I lay squarely at zeros doorstep. RIDE SAFE.

Obama's silence on these killing makes him culpable. He needs to, for once in his life, act like a leader and tell the "black lives matter movement" to stand down. But he will not do it.

I know what I said.  Yep, I did say that he and his ilk have created the atmosphere.  And I stand by it.  I don't feel the need to rattle off all the examples ("The cops acted stupidly" OK just one) because it's soooooooooooooo been gone over too many times, from obama on down to wilhelm (diblasio, funny how both these public people have aliases, just an observation).  Those that disagree are simply in a different world.

And you forgot one.  When the waters rise and fall, it'll be his fault.  Oh sorry, he said that one himself.

 If you noticed , I never mentioned anything about the assailants.  Thanks for the link . As of this morning , they have some video footage that is being enhanced.
 All the news articles say two white and one black are being sought . Some woman called in a false report for her own 15 seconds of fame. She was arrested, jailed with three charges and bond set at $100,000 . The judge had no sense of humor and really slammed her. She disrupted the search as they shifted to 5 miles south of Fox Lake  .

But seriously, the white house has sent representatives to sit with the families and attend funerals or memorials for the those on the fatal, non-cop end of police/citizen confrontations, but never to the services when it's the cop who is on the fatal end.  Not even the ones who are ambushed, killed for just being cops and eating a sandwich.

What is the message sent when the white house gets behind the "honor students" that fight with police, that grab for their guns, etc. and then calls police stupid?

I spent 28 years doing the job. In the line of duty death is and does happen, and most officers understand the possibility. We don't dwell on it or we may as well quit. You can't do this job in fear.  We were told right in the academy that we are expendable. We accept the fact that this is a high risk job and the outcome in many instances sucks but it does happen. Out and out murder of an officer no matter what color or nationality is out of hand and crap.
I feel for this mans family and friends! He died WRONG and unecessarily!

I feel for his family. I am in the business of being a cop. As for the politics of this conversation I feel that this administration has started and fanned the flames of this. A police officer was doing his job when checking out a burglary call and asked a man for ID and was called a racist and questioned by this administration for doing that. The professor turned it into a race thing and they went right along with it. The appropriate answer from the administration should have been the officer is doing his job  but no  they stated ,"the man was targeted because he was black and this happens all the time." If the officer had not asked for ID and the professors house had been cleaned out the answer would have been the cops did not show up because he was black. This all started at the beginning of this administration and it has not stopped. I have had to stand at the National Police Memorial in the town I police and watch as names are added to that Memorial some my close friends. We don't get paid to die, beat up, but it happens we know that when we put on the badge. However we did not sign up to fight the bad guys and our own government. Not doing or saying anything is just like condoning it.

This MIGHT not sound right but here goes anywho. With all the negative media plus the lack of leadership at the federal level I PRAY if a L E O is thrown into a life and death situation that the L E O does NOT second guess the situation at the moment and pay the ultimate price. I've been fortunate enough to do ride alongs with some L E Os. You will remember I am an ex truck driver.  Some would consider where I live-Podunk-but after taking with our Chief of Police here this situation IS everywhere. I see most of our officers wearing vests on a day to day basis. I just CAN NOT wrap my head around the lack of mentality it takes to TARGET a L E O. Again-R I P G I Joe.

Vest means nothing anymore. Too publicized by the media since we started wearing them. Now the creeps shoot us in the head or below the vest. Ammo has changed as well so some of the vest don't protect us either. All in all, by the news telling all it has assisted in officer killings. Vest use should  have never have been publicized, period but it was  hard to keep it under wraps.
