rattle from front when moving slow speeds

the rattle is only apparent when moving slow, under 60kms, never at idle or under rev's standing still
Have tapped on everything, only thing i could make rattle was my left front brake caliper. though the noise sounds like its coming from the right.
Pulled caliper off, and couldnt find a fault
I cant ride and be along side and listen, im stumped
Worried about high speeds, and its farkin annoying as well, makes it sound like a bucket of crap
any help where to look, gladly appreciated

Its probably just the calipers. They float. So a rattle is normal, it they stop rattling then its time to reach down and give them a shake and loosen them back up.

What Patrick just said – And you might be able to verify it by lightly holding front brake lever as you go to see if that shuts up the rattle.

While back had a similar problem. It was the brake pad. There is a retaining spring or clip that holds the pad in place. If it is not installed right, or if the clip is a little out of shape, the pad will move around particularly when on rough roads or hitting bumps and make a hell of a racket. The sound will not seem to come from where the problem is. The sound migrates and will lead you on wild goose chases.

I'm betting the rattle is still there at higher speeds, you just can't make it out as well.

Even when I found the problem brake pad and made it rattle the rattle seemed to come from elsewhere.

Find the bottom of the pad and sharply push upward. If you feel it move and hear a loud "clank", there you go.


When it rattles, does applying the brake make it stop?
If so, that would be the starting point of your search.
If not, the search goes on.
