New tires and old spark plugs pictures

Ill put the tires on soon and the plugs have made a difference. One of the electrodes has a slight bend in it off to one side and surprisingly they do show a slight bit of wear.

Robert, how many miles are on those plugs? They look like your bike is running too lean. I might be tempted to go to the colder IK22 spark plug. Although I am old school in reading vehicles with carburetors, not fuel injection. Fuel injection does run cleaner. I would expect a light brown color. The Valk may also be too low of compression to handle a colder plug? You would normally go colder every 50+ HP increase over stock. Just a thought. Anyone?

3500k, And yes they are pretty clean but then again I'm sure all of the Goldwing types are pretty much
the same way. Modern engines with fuel injection, water cooling and O2 sensors, unleaded gas are not going to look much different with that kind of mileage.

I bet if you pulled one of yours you would find the same thing. Going to a cooler range is not really going to help with the color and I have no pre ignition or knocking and the electrode is not melted or showing signs of heat damage. If the engine was lean the check engine light would also come on.

My 01 is a golden brown color perfect for carburetor engines and more what you and I would be used to in a properly tuned pre emission world. 

I was also surprised that the bike actually does seem to run better, smoother and maybe a bit quicker. Put antisieze on the new plugs because they actually squeaked coming out. Glad I did it actually, plugs were not expensive either.

Was curious so I looked for Goldwings and plug color and found this carburetor 1100 with 3500 miles on them and look pretty much what you would expect but still pretty white.

Actually, a clean white plug can be an indication of wrong ignition timing or too hot of a spark plug. If you're not having any problems no worries!

I keep telling myself there is nothing beautiful about tires, but then I just keep looking at them  You can tell they are softer if you touch them and compare them to the oem tires.

Well now just to have the time to do it. 

Wasn't sure how I was going to jack up the bike and finally last night it came to me. Works really good I'm going to make an adapter so I don't have to use the jack but the height is only limited by the height of the jack now. Really easy, really secure, and no problem leaving it there. Glad I finally did that, now I can do all the maintenance and cleaning with ease. In the pic you cant really see how high it is but its about 12 inches off the floor.

I don't know Robert.  I would do one at a time.  If you drop it it will cost a heck of a lot more than just bringing it to a dealer.

It may not look it but its very solidly up there. Its a twin post 10,000 lbs lift the arms come out and are locked under the engine guards. That gives the side to side and front support then the jack is under the shock mount and has a rubber guard on it for the rear.  No worries and actually to me its more risky bringing it to the dealer than putting it on the lift.
