Willmans Electronics, Garland, Tx

The six CD player in my Suburban has choked  .  I have found three 'send your unit in for repair stores'.  One in Brentwood, Ca., one in Florida, and Willmans on Sam Houston Drive in Garland.  Can't find any reviews for Willmans, except on their website.

Have any of you dealt with Willmans, or know anything about them?  The other two have mixed reviews, and I would rather deal with a "local" company.

Any help or comments would be appreciated.

Willman's repaired the six cd changer in my Explorer, did a great job and delivered on time, no complaints and would use him again.

Thanks, Houdini.  That's good enough for me.  I just sent an email to them to get the ball rolling.

As a side note, I have not been much of a fan of Da Boys.  Born and bred in Houston.  But since the Oilers have been showing up for the Texans' games, I've been pulling more for Da Boys.  With their injuries, they've been falling a little short.  Looks like it is going to be a looooong season.  At least when Romo and Dez get back, they could make a resounding rebound.

why fix the mechanical 6 cd player when you could put all of your music on an mp3 player?

I would have thought that I would get more responses on the football issue.  But, go figure.

The short of it, don't have the extra cash to be able to play MP3's.

The long of it, you asked, is I'm semi-retired.  This is probably much more than you care to hear, or read, but here goes.  I was an IT manager for many years, making good money.  A friend I worked with had a friend that did our stocks.  He had us heavily invested in Enron.  We were being setup for a good retirement.  All of a sudden, the vast majority of my retirement was gone.  Now I am living on a much worse budget than I planned.

The last DJ's I listened to were Crash, Hudson and Harrigon, Stevens and Pruett, and Moby.  I soon got tired of commercials and DJ's opinions.  (Opinions are like a$$holes.  Everyone has one, and 99.9% of them stink, i.e. this narrative.)  Cassettes came along, and I put all of my songs on these.  When CD's and DVD's happened, I resisted for a long time.  I finally succumbed and spent days...weeks converting to CD's (mainly because my vehicle no longer had a cassette player).

My car stereo is 10 years old.  I would have to buy a new radio, MP3 player, and take the time to convert in order to listen.  I still have a non-smart phone.  Smart phones, to me, seem to be more for entertainment than for talking.  I have a 60" flat screen, 110 watt per channel 7.1 stereo, and a desktop computer.  Nothing against anyone that has a smart phone, just not for me.

Talking new radios with the local shops, for extra money I could have all of my speakers work, my steering wheel controls to work, and only one CD at a time, as opposed to going with MP3's.

It would cost me a bundle, in my terms.  My extra money goes to the Phat Gurl.  Don't listen to tunes while riding.  My attention is on the cagers.  Again, nothing against those that listen while riding.

If you have the cds, you can convert the music files into mp3 files and it doesn't cost anything other than time.

And it would be a lot less time than you spent converting cassettes to CDs.  An MP3 player is pretty inexpensive and probably a lot less than the repair on a CD changer.  Walmart has 4GB players for under $20.  With 6 discs, you have 3.8MB of storage space.  With a 4GB player, you could store as much as 6400 audio CDs of music.  For less than $20.
