Cleaning Timing Belt tension rollers

What is used to clean the crud off the timing belt Tension rollers? 

Can they be cleaned with out removing them or the timing belt?

I used acetone to clean mine.  Did it without removing them or the belts, just released the tension, cleaned them and made sure they spun smoothly and then retensioned the belts.

Mardi Gras.  You know how dignified I am.  I figured this hat would keep me from taking myself so seriously.
