Hey thanks for posting that, I may do that was thinking about going to NY and really didn't want to drive the whole way. But that looks great and the bike looks very safe and secure.  :cooldude:

Took the AutoTrain back in the 80's with my former in-laws car & former wife. Unless things have drastically improved in the sleeping arrangements I would opt for the private sleeping quarters. With the racket of the between car doors opening & closing along with the constant wandering of too many people there will be not much sleep being had in the passenger areas. The scenery was so-so alternating between good & somewhat depressing. Train tracks aren't always run through nice areas.  :o

Hey - Lorton Va to Morgantown WV and then back to the train. Traveling the Jerry way  :2funny:

Thunderbolt

Maybe I was dreaming but I thought I heard that the autotrain was going to cease operations.

Our James had raved about this Autotrain adventure several years back, and it sounded great then.  :cooldude: I'd be willing since it would give my bride the chance to do a longer trip which her knees otherwise prevent her from enjoying.  :'( It also would stop her from being embarrassed like she was in Eureka Springs when the white stretch dropped her off at Ground Zero, while Grumpy and I rode there.  :-[ ???

Pappy!

Would be a bunch of fun to get a few folks and do it.
Put back about $20 or so a week and the costs would be covered with ease. Less if only one is traveling.

I would be down for this as well  :cooldude: Maybe we should see how much interest there is and book a trip.

If you guys ever do an Autotrain trip up to Lorton VA, let me know.  Lorton is only 15 minutes from my home, and I would be happy to show you around.

Harper's Ferry, Skyline Drive, Antietam and Gettysburg (and many other civil war battlefields), Shenandoah Valley, West (by God) Virginia, Air and Space museum at Dulles Int'l Airport.  If you want to see the sights in DC, you're on your own (just go north 15 miles, and take some antidepressants and Tumms).

Jess, thanks for chiming in. I've been lucky enough to have been to all of those places, and they are all great! Been to DC as well, but have limited myself to buildings and architecture, NOT anyone that is supposed to be representing me!

I do go to Arlington, to pay my respect to my brothers (and sisters) vets that gave their all for us all. Can't ever forget them! :'(

It would be good to get up a trip. Would have to be May or later, as it does get cold up there. We should see who might be interested.

Yes, too early in Spring will be cold and wet.

Problem up here is Spring is usually only about 2-3 weeks.  But it is beautiful.
