This video just broke my heart and made me wonder if there was something more I can personally do for our unfortunate, abandoned and forgotten veterans like this gentleman.  I just had to share this with y'all,  some of the greatest people I know. Very moving, thanks for posting it. I've done much the same for an elderly woman who didn't have enough to pay for her purchase of groceries. I picked up that plastic divider and moved it forward to include most of her stuff in my tab. She didn't catch what I was doing at first, but when it sunk in she started to cry. I loaded her and her stuff in my old beater of a car(about 35 yrs. ago) and dropped her off at home. Never saw her again, often wondered what happened to her. I had a chance to do the same thing for what appeared to be a homeless woman a few years back at a Steak 'n Shake. It really makes you feel good and at the same time a bit sorry for others less fortunate. I don't donate to those standing at intersections with a small sign, but if I see someone in a store needing help, I'll step up.

Would be nice if the VA wasn't so disconnected.  Here in Pasco a homeless vet can get shelter and a meal fairly quick if they will accept the help, from a local church and not the VA.  Not sure how easy it is for the other homeless.

very moving indeed, the sad part the government spend million in attempts to stabilize and in many cases destabilize other countries, more in foreign aid, charity etc, and zero attention to those who step up to make it happen and maintain order at home or abroad. thanks for sharing jeff

It was this kind of situation that started my walk with our Lord Jesus Christ. I used to scoff at homeless folks, thinking they should just go out and get a job. That's when I was still of the opinion that my good fortune was due to my efforts. Then, Tommy Shane Steiner released a country song by the name of, "What if she's an Angel?" That song really started me thinking and has changed my whole life.   

Now, I help when ever I can. Sometimes $, sometimes just conversation to ask what I can do to help. Other times I have gone to buy food and returned to the corner to give it to the person asking for help. Sure, there may be times that the money gets used for the wrong thing, but in my eyes, it's not my place to judge. Only God can do that. As a Vietnam Vet, I have a special place in my heart for Vets. I never know what led the individual into hard times, and it makes no difference really, for there, but for the Grace of God, go I.

Thanks for posting this Jeff, and reminding all of us about the fortune we have, and the plight of others.

We do so much for other countries and all their crap, and let something like this happen to our Vets of all people. Just pisses me off.
