Any good Christmas presents?

Just wondering what you all got from Santa this year?

Anything good or just a lump of coal?

I'm not much on giving/receiving and just buy items all year long that we want, on sale/good deals of course.

I've been looking at getting a nicer toolbox for a while now (Well, nicer than the ancient dressers I've been using) but hadn't gotten the approval to drop the money on one.

Turns out my dearest spousal unit did some Black Friday shopping and managed, with the help of a good friend of mine, to keep it totally secret and hidden away until this morning, where she sprung this on me:

Got the best present ever...  My oldest son (and his new wife) moved back to Wisconsin, after 3 years in South Carolina. She finished her Physicians Assistant Degree in Charleston, and was accepted for a nice job, here where they both are from.

All of us (that are left from my side of the family) my Brother, his son, his daughter and her husband, Alex, Samantha, and Austin, and myself spent the day together.  I cooked, we ate, talked, laughed, and had a great day

that is quite a light by the description for sure....i will have to check that out some more. My son-in-law is a flashlight junkie...like a collector of hi-tech beams, make a good gift for him come birthday or next Christmas. You have a good wife to think that much of you, LOL.

I got new boots....boots are my thing sort of. The old Wolverine western work boots have been good and comfortable boots for work, riding, and just general knock arounds, but it's time to retire them. Rarely wear shoes. The new kicks can be seen at the link.

My wife bought me a new front tire for the Valk but wouldn't let me keep it in the living room by the tree. "I don't want that smelly rubber thing in the house" so out to the shop it went. I no longer have the spoons and stuff to change them myself but am tempted to get a set and give it a try. I have chrome wheels, suppose I should get some protectors to go with the wrenches?  That new rubber seems awful stiff to me, will the sun soften it enough to help with the change?

Well, the greatest wife in the world outdid herself again this year.

I was talking about getting into some welding and figured I would jump in to 220V MIGS as to not have to step up later from a small 120V rig.

The wife decided to do even better...




Still in route to my house, but this Lincoln should cover all of my welding needs for many many years to come. MIG (gas and gas-less), TIG, and Stick in one machine. Also has the LCD display, that makes it easy to pick exactly the type of welding you are doing and sets it up for you. Gets incredible reviews and I am looking forward to trying hard not to burn down my garage.

Best of all - a day with my wife and son, my sister, her kids, their kids, and other assorted in-laws and outlaws. I always enjoy seeing the little ones, holidays or not. Plus enough food to feed twice as many.  Why is it that after a combined 150 years of experience, we still can't estimate the correct amount of food needed.

A new Wolo chrome horn from the wife to replace the car horns on the Valk.
Best present though was that our youngest daughter escaped serious injury on Christmas Eve when she was rear-ended by two cars at about 40 mph on her way in to work .... slowed to a stop at a light but two guys behind her didn't    Just some stiffness and hopefully will be fine...gotta give credit to her new VW Jetta... bumper's a bit worse for wear but she drove it away while the two cars that hit her look to be totaled.

Sorry thear about your daughter's accident .  Glad she's ok.  I don't understand the way people drive on a day like today.  My sister told me about an accident she saw on the way to my house.  Obviously speed related.  SUV flipped, other cars involved.  The turkey will taste as good 10 minutes later.  The family will wait, for your safe arrival.  Too many distractions while driving these days.

However my kids didn't listen.  I received some nice practical presents from them anyway.

12 car wash tickets, (excellent for the snow and salt,) a grocery card, and a very nice 15 year old Glenlivet single malt.

A friend has one, was showing it to us, and my wife knew I was impressed...
it was a big surprise to get one for Christmas, though   ...

I only chainsaw two or three times a year, it is not good for little gas
motors to just sit around... I have a Husky, so it usually starts pretty
easily, right now it doesn't idle very long, which is a drag, and probably
caused by sitting around with old gas in it... this electric one will turn
on with a press of the button every time I hope, and I have a tree
and some limbs down now that need cut up, I'll get to see it in action
in a day or so...

Can't wait to get them all on the bike.....going to look amazing.

I upgraded my right side engine guard and replaced those ratty old "o"ring hiway pegs with some Kury pegs.

Hey Carl, do yourself a favor. When you do your carbs, be sure to replace those float valves as well.

Only took a couple of hours to fit (properly), and all that is visible is the lens piece, as I had to mount it on the handlebars with a home-made clamp.


I've probably a bit of fine tuning to do, as it hasn't stopped raining here to allow me out for a decent run.

i think harbor freight has those super hard plastic type spoons you could use on your wheels

I'm guessing we're in the 40 - 50 thousand dollar range new, a little less used.  That is unless he was talking about the new grandgirl then she's more expensive but someone else is picking up the tab.

Use tons of lube.  Murphys oil soap works great.

I just changed the rear tire on my 1800 with the tire irons I've been using on the 1500... and
I used protectors. The 1800 wheels are painted black.

I can buff out the scratches on the 1500 wheels.

I had to rattle-can black out the scratches on the 1800 wheel.

I don't think you can fix scratched up chrome  ...

I'm probably going to try these "plastic" spoons on the next tire, maybe they'll
help you...

Yes, throw it out there on the concrete for 2 or 3 hours.

Use tons of lube.  Murphys oil soap works great.

Not if you're using beads for balance, they tend to clump.
Always used Windex (it'll show a leak & evaporates pretty quick) but I wont hand mount 'em anymore,
jus' not worth the hassle.

If it will sit out in the weather, shouldn't you stain all that bare wood?


And a couple of those magnetized door signs with a phone number might bring in some business.

(I like the magnetized over permanent painted signs, because sometimes you want/need to be incognito)
