I'm surprised at that. When I rode in competition, we had to have a kill switch which consisted of a set of car contact points from distributor attached to the kill switch wire. contacts were kept apart to run engine by a piece of leather connected to a rawhide strap which was tied to riders wrist. If rider was thrown from bike the strap would pull the leather out of points thus killing engine immediately. Very effective and good safety feature.
