Took off thursday morning for a ride into the north Georgia mountains. Weather was awesome with highs near 70 and nothing but dry roads and sunshine. We took some backroads that I've never been on it was one of those " Let's see where this goes " kinda ride. We hit the mountain twisties of Tennessee , Georgia , North Carolina and South Carolina on the two day ride.Here is a waterfall we found out in the middle of nowhere it was on a mountain backroad between Tellico Plains and Coker Creek , Tennessee.







I've seen alot of people that thought they were cool , but then again Lord I've seen alot of fools.

Next stop the Georgia mountains ....Brasstown Bald ( highest point in Georgia ) we rode into Sushes on Hwy.60 and hit Wolf Pen Gap and did " The Cooler Run ". The store at Wolf Pen Gap Road in Sushes is for sale now.



Small waterfall on Hwy.180 on the way to the top of Brasstown Bald.

We did a large loop after passing through Helen , Georgia . We stopped in Helen and got alittle something to sip on while at the motel for the over-nite. I went in to get a bottle of Markers Mark and saw Heavens Hill this is the distillerie that Highbinder has picked for us to tour on " The Whiskey Run " in June 2010. I've never had this brand so I thought I needed to check it out before we go tour the distillerie.We took the long way out of Helen and made our way to Dahlonega , Georgia for the over-nite .

Friday morning Paul ( Thumper ) showed up and took us on a nice twistie filled ride into the mountains of South Carolina. He took us down a few rural roads that was awesome for motorcycling we even added Warwoman Road to the mix since my ridin' buddy Paul ( Wimp ) had never been on it. I love this road and everytime I'm in the area its a must do for me.

Stump House Tunnel in South Carolina started in the mid 1800's and never finished the war of northern aggression was part of the reason it was never finished.Check the link to read more it was hand dug ( WOW ) .

Issaqueena Falls,South Carolina ...What a beautiful area and the roads are awesome with beautiful twisties and sweepers all the way.

We rode under Bridal Veil Falls after leaving The Highlands of North Carolina but several cars was parked near and I did'nt stop to get a picture. It was the most water I've seen coming over Bridal Veil Falls in many years ( I wish now I took the picture ) .
We went on down to Dry Falls this was the first time Paul had been there. It was rockin' with all the recent rainfall.

I don't know the name of this waterfall it's between The Highlands and Frankin, North Carolina. Picture just does'nt do it justice...Beautiful

Took the Hellbender and The Dragon home . First pic is shot from The Hellbender 28.




Not many folks out on The Dragon and just a heads up Deals Gap Store will close on Nov. 23 and remain closed to March 1 2010. The Hellbender will remain open so you can get gas there if needed.

Wow that sure sounds like a great ride...

After having accrued almost 28 years as a State employee, I get thirty (30) arbitrary (I pick 'em)
days off each year... I've used 28 of them (many of them were spent riding or working on a
Valkyrie), and need to keep a couple to round out Christmas days off... The State Govt just
approved a deal whereby we get an extra day off the week of Christmas, so I now have
one extra day to... use for riding Valkyries or something...

Headed out after Church today to ride a few of the roads Joe mentions in his post, including
War Woman... sure would be something if this awesome weather continues for a while...

Thanks everyone for the comments...Its good to see some of y'all still check out and reply to a ride report  that does'nt have a thing to do with the political BS so many seem to dig on here  :cooldude: 

One of the better rides this year Mike and the weather played a major role in that it was beautiful everyday. I'm gettin' ready to head back toward Deals Gap right now ( Sunday morning ) I'm thinking we won't have very many more sunny with high's in the 70's for November.If you get over in  The Hellbender  or The Dragon area look me up. If it's covered in law I'll make one run if it's not I'll stay and play awhile.

Barely got it out of the neck I only mixed a few drinks out of it...It's not nasty but it's not Markers Mark either  :cooldude:

I just got back from a conference in Louisville a few weeks ago. I had all kinds of bourbon. Makers Mark has their own restaurant, food was good.I found out that Makers Mark is actually a wheat Bourbon, not rye. I got to sample all the fine bourbons at the Seelbach, and my favorite was Bookers.Its good stuff, but runs around $60 a bottle.
So whats the consensus on Heaven Hill

Booker's Bourbon is the only uncut, unfiltered, straight-from-the-barrel,
connoisseur's sipping bourbon available today. It's bottled at its natural proof of
between 121 and 127, and aged between six and eight years. Booker Noe, Jim

Didn't make it that far, I didn't get to start until after Church and some of the other guys had stuff to do places
to be later on in the afternoon... but we went down a few good roads...

Great report Joe. Makes me homesick seeing the GA roads mentioned. Last time I was up that way was for a bicycle race. (volunteer)  Can you imagine riding a pedal bike up those hills and even all the way up to the lookout at Brasstown Bald?
Freedom will ultimately cost more than we care to pay but will be worth every drop of blood to those who follow and cherrish it.
