Pappy!

Think about it after reading this...................We have a bunch of our rider/friends who ride with less.

On the way home from Inzane, early in the morning on Friday. Bronxboy and I had gone through what was left of the storm that hit the night before. The day was cool and clearing.
We were running right on 85 mph indicated. I was in front.
I wear a Nolan N104 modular helmet. Visor down and locked.
Out of nowhere I was hit hard on the left side of my visor by what Bronxboy said was a Crow. Saw it at the last split second and it never touched the windshield.
It felt like a fist to the visor.
With no helmet or anything less the impact would have been to my left eye. I can only imagine what would have happened if I had a half helmet and sunglasses.
Bronxboy said it looked like an explosion of feathers on impact. Blood on the left side of the helmet was the only damage on what could have been much much worse.
Think about it!

Are you trying to make my head explode ??    :-\ :-\ :crazy2:

Glad it wasn't worse for ya.

Fred was hit by a bat and said if he didn't have the full face it might have cut his forehead open.   glad your ok & had a good helmet on.

Preaching to the choir here, last crash I had, don't think I would have made it without AGAT and a full face helmet.

POP.. you guys are killin me !   :uglystupid2:

I am a perfect example of not wearing all the gear most of the time. This was an eye opener for me as well. FL is so damn hot that it has me wearing less gear than I should, but I will be changing that from now on  :cooldude:

This is very true, but, my first thought after reading your post was WILD HOGS, WILD HOGS!  All the elements were there a band of brothers on a motorcycle road trip, one day I hope to be able to take a trip like that. We trailered to Inzane Spearfish last year as my daughter's bike is not very comfortable on long trips, and that was a looong trip in a truck let alone on a motorcycle (but I digress, as we had two FL VRCC iron butts ride to Asheville then Spearfish and then some more in between and after).  The worst nature incident that happened to me was a big bumble bee flew into my full face helmet when I was a teenager, of course I had the visor up which gave him his entry point. I haven't stopped that quickly since. Very glad you had your gear on as the consequences could have been fatal otherwise. Funny how we become more mortal as we age.
Glad everyone made it home safely from Inzane.

As most know I am a full face helmet rider.  Trust me Nick I so want to get a 3/4 in the worst way especially in the summer but I can't.   Now the hypocrite in me is that is where it ends.   T shirt jerry.  How about that Crankinrankin dude?  He just smiles.................. ATSAFFATT.

Sadly some learn the hard way. A friend of mine hit some sand at 20 mph and laid the bike down, he was wearing one of those novelty helmets.. His head hit the curb and put a 4 in crack in his skull. That was 4 years ago, today he can barely walk, if he bends over he loses his balance and falls down. He is barely above being a complete cripple. Sad choice wearing that kind of helmet.

A few years ago my wife and I (on the red and white)were lowsided by a rider that was lacking in basic skills.  Traveling at 35MPH you'd think a simple lowside cant be that bad.  Really!  When the bike layed down the right engine guard, doing its job, grabbed the road and the bike stopped NOW.  Our bodies were still traveling at 35mph.  Thank God Judy bounced off of me and went off to the side.  I kept going straight and did actually go through the OEM windshield face first.  Luckily it was in the winter so we had all the gear on, and I was wearing a full face helmet.

Windshields offer some protection but not without their own risk and danger too

Im not that handsome a guy to begin with, but cannot imagine what I would look like today if I was wearing my 3/4 helmet.  The full face helmet was destroyed completely but it saved my face.

A few weeks ago a guy wrecked near Hardee's on bike night. The bike was brought to Hardee's on a trailer and the guy had road rash really bad. I was not there that night but my friend Eddie AKA( Steel Cowboy) took pictures, his shirt had been ripped off. Lucky for him he was wearing a full face helmet. The chin and shield area were all scuffed up, looking at those pictures without the full face he would not have a face. Maybe Eddie will post a pic of that helmet, it's an eye opener. AND NOW TO YESTERDAYS LESSON, If you forget to put your kickstand down and get off YOUR BIKE WILL FALL OVER. :crazy2:

Crashed 3 times here throughout the years. Was wearing ATG each time. Won't ride without it even though I've been very tempted. Just purchased a riding shirt with all the armor in the right places from Revzilla and a new heat dispensing undershirt for testing out. I get impatient looks from the t-shirt riders when I have to throw on all my gear before departing. I'm apologetic, but secretly I don't care. A little extra insurance always costs something in this world, and ATGATT costs comfort and time. So far, I'm road rash and broken bone free because of gear.

When John Paul went down the front of his face shield and helmet was nothing but scrapes and gouges.  Better than the face for sure.  Some guy in a work van "never saw John Paul"  pulled right out in front of him a couple of years ago.

Drove the Shadow 1100 from home to z-hills pulled up to the garage (and in the grass thankfully) I casually got off the bike and over it went.  Now because of the good circumstance surrounding this and no harm done I was laughing hysterically
