TRUCK STACK REMOVAL

Has any one ever had luck with removing 36" truck stacks without cutting them off. Want to go back with OEM hardware.

Good luck. They have to be driven on so getting them off is doubtful. When you say "truck stacks" and want to go back to OEM, what are you really wanting to do? Do you want to go back to the removable outer sleeve and short extension on the back end over the piggies? The truck stacks are a much better looking addition in place of the OEM setup, that's the main reason most riders do it.

If you're successful in getting them off you still have a problem with spots that have to be ground down in order to get the stacks on.

There is a little more noise coming from the exhaust then I would like. System has stock piggies but the stack sticks past them about 6" or so cant extend piggies without removing them. What I would like to do is cut them back enough to install my OEM interstate tips. Any idea's welcomed

I think you have about the same sound with both setups. Might try Grumpies tips.

I've taken mine of numerous times.  Get underneath the pipes and use a screwdriver to open the gap between the front heat shield and the truck stack, squirt in WD-40.  Move to the back of the bike, grip the stacks and begin wiggling them back and forth while pulling hard as you can, be sure to put a foot against the tire so the bike doesn't just roll back.  You'll have them off in no time.  

I went to Home Depot and bought some copper pipe and couplings and added enough length to extend the piggies outside on the stacks.  She is quiet as a whisper now.



FYI, Grumpy's tips make no difference to the volume, they only improve the look.

Made no difference on my bike, other than finishing the end of the truck stack.

Extending the piggies made a huge difference for a lot less money than Grumpy's Tips or the marine baffles.

Here is the method I used to remove my chrome truck stacks.

On a table lay out a strip of duck tape about 5 feet long, build this strip up with 5-6 layers of tape. Clean the stack with whatever, just get rid of the dirt. dust, etc. Peel the tape off the table and stick one 12 inch section on the outer 12 inches of the stack. Loop the tape back and stick the other end (12 inches) on the opposite side of the stack. Now you have a loop of tape about 1.5 feet long sticking out back end of the stack. You can crimp,wad up this portion of the tape so it won't be sticky to handle. Now insert a 2x3 board or whatever into the loop and use a 5 pound hammer hitting the 2x3 to drive the stack off.
