dish network is cancelling one local channel

I just signed up for dish last week and find out 1 of the 5 local channels will no longer be available after tomorrow 6 p.m. unable to come to an agreement with channel 15 (NBC).  That is pretty horrible if you ask me since no other provider would not allow these 5 local stations, let alone 1 of the 3 biggies being NBC  (and ABC/CBS). 

they best get this figured out ASAP since not having NBC is pretty bad especially since I just signed up with them last week suppose to get all the local channels, a whopping 5 of them in HD. 

Never heard of a cable or satellite provider EVER not having broadcast the big 3 being NBC, ABC, and CBS, have you??

That happened here last week with the local NBC affiliate.
I don't have Dish, but they talked about it on the news, they
got it going again in a few days...

they may cancel your locaL but they will air another NBC channel in its place until they reach an agreement

I've been a long time Dish subscriber (since 2000) - these carriage disputes usually get resolved in a week or 2.  Certain programming providers are worse than others about this.

Go to lowes and get yourself a HDTV antenna (rabbit ear model) and watch it for free.
I have one on a TV and it works great get all locals and a few others about 13-14 stations in all and the antenna only cost about $30.

I wish that antenna would work, but not where I live in WI unfortunately.  I tried that and not much luck.

Our local channel 15 is NBC so guessing if one place who lost NBC for 1-2 weeks after dispute got resolved, it will in my area as well, or it BETTER.

Same issue you have happening here. My T V stations are out of Springfield Mo. Do NOT affect me at all-saw the info crawl while watching what passes for news. I'm on an antenna. Can you spell-FREE!!   RIDE SAFE.

Did some reading on the DBS board I also hangout on - the station owner group appears to be Gray television.
FWIW  - Gray could also own other network affiliates (besides NBC) in different markets. They would also be affected.

well, it got resolved right before the deadline, all is well, until they have the next contract dispute over money.

Then on your next bill or or shortly down the road,  see if there is the sneak price increase on you bill?

that is exactly why I switched from directtv to dish, since directtv eff. jan. 22 is going to raise rates 6 bucks per month for _hits and giggles.  Plus, get 100 bill credit bundling with phone/internet company with dish and 100 bucks in refer a friend program form my neighbor who has dish as well, plus of course the good first 24 month rate vs. after 24 months having to call up and ask for 30 bucks off per month or going to cancel ASAP.  Normally they will do 20-30 bucks off your bill for 12 months or so to keep you to stay after 24 months or might do it for 24 months givign 20-30 off per month but usually if for 24 months, they ask you sign a new 2 year committment.

Just got my notice from DISH yesterday. They are going to decrease the upcoming monthly charge for my "package" by $5 and then charge for the local channels as a separate line item at $10.
