Some of you know I have been looking for a new driving job with less abuse on my body. I have been lifting, pushing, pulling, pumping on pallet jacks for the last 5 years moving about 100k lbs a week and it has taken a toll on me. The new job is a tractor trailer/flatbed with a Moffett forklift hanging off the back delivering construction products, mostly concrete block, already on a pallet. I will be exposed to the elements a bit more but gotta take the good with the bad. I am taking a small hit in pay but will make that up after a year. A plus to this also is it is a mere 5 miles away instead of the 50 i have been doing, big savings on gas, wear and tare, travel time to work. I don't think a Valkyrie is even warmed up after 5 miles ! I am not one to change jobs frequently so this is truly a Historic Day.. woohoo !

Thanks all, yep it has been a tough decision to make but it will be for the best. One requirement i had searching was I wanted weekends off, not easy to come by in the trucking industry, also lots of night shifts available but that just wouldn't  make me happy at all. I still have my weekends off and work day time hours albeit ten or twelve hours a day. I got used to passing by Bert's place every Thursday morning, have to catch up on the weekends now Bert.  :cooldude:

Congratulation on the new job. The masons and myself always liked the block delivered and unloaded with a moffett. You guys put them right where they needed to be so they did not have to move as many by hand. Delivered by the boom truck, he could only stack them in a central location, sucked for them. Only 5 miles from home and the moffett does all the lifting  :) :) :cooldude:

Congrats dude!
I too am in the running for a new job. I thought Colorado was a done deal when I turned in a letter to decline my company's offer of employment because of salary.

They turned around and told me they are reassessing and pushing it to a higher approval letter because they really want me in the job. Better jobs are always a good thing!

Once again, congrats.
