Name for my bike

So I have a 97 valk tourer. It's dark blue metallic with a ghosted Phoenix graphic on the tank and saddle bags. I need a name for it. The old name before the facelift was Poisidon. The God of water. So I would like to rename it. Any ideas? I will be going to a bike blessing that my church is holding next month. Thanks ahead of time.

Personally I think it's dumb to name a machine. Mine was named Dove when it was my father in laws. The only name I understand is Bruces (DDT) Ali. Seems most people hear of someone naming their bike but never just name it for themselves. If you should name a machine it should have lots of meaning behind it, just don't do ot because everyone else does.

Well heck.  Why not Phoenix Rizing.  There is a whole bunch of air brush work one could think of to deal with that theme and a Valk.  For instance a Valk on the road with a Valkyrie Maiden lifting it up to soar into the sky.  Just my 2 cents and a cup of coffee.  Good luck with what ever you choose.

All good suggestions. My wife suggested Bandit. Cause after all I love smiley and the Bandit, it has an 85 trans am bird decal on it and it's the same color as my 79 Trans am that is being restored and I gave to my oldest boy. 
That has meaning to me and my family because of these reasons. And I feel as one with the bike. So I believe I will call her Bandit.

Bandit is cool. If it has meaning to you and your family go for it. I did name my bike (it was a Shadow and I carried it over to the Valk) and it did have meaning to me. I agree it should mean something to you personally. I've posted this on other forums in the past and I like you folks so I'll share it again. Coincidentally the name is also one of my favorite 60's tunes.

Sometimes it's the day or ride that makes a bike more than a thing. Yesterday I started out on a 2 hour ride with my neighbor who was on his chopper. It was ok, just some clouds and about 65*F out. About 30 minutes into the ride just around the time we hit the mountains and twisties north of here all hell broke loose. We had hard steel rain, hail, high winds, wet leaves blowing about, on and on. My neighbor had to slow 'way' down because his chopper breaks loose in the turns in the rain, but the shadow seemed to enjoy the weather...not one slip or miss. In fact I probably didn't need to slow down but did for my neighbor. So at some moment in that turmoil I looked up at the pitch black clouds and down at my bike and it hit me..."Stormy". At that moment a bike became more than a 'thing' to me ...

I ebayed so many parts and doo-dads for my tired Valkyrie when
I first got it, that my wife named it "Sal" - short for Salvage...



Since then, I've got the Black bike (named "Chewy" by Smokin' Joe) and when
people started getting f6bs and f6cs a couple of years ago, one smitten new
owner compared his old Valkyrie to a log truck...

So I renamed Sal to The Log Truck...

Never understood naming a machine.   Don't think that doesn't mean I don't have an emotional attachment to my Valkyrie, I guess I do call her the "fat lady" but, that name came from Honda.  

The fat lady has sung.   But, she's like that song, A Horse with no name.  
I'll ride her till one of us can go no farther.   Based on what I've learned over the years, my guess is, she'll outlast me.

I don't normally names my bikes, but I named my Georgia Valk "Slowpoke", cause it's the slowest color...Black! It's a real dog, so the name has meaning to it. Comments are welcome...Let them begin!!

I came to the same conclusion. She'll outlast me by a long shot. These bikes were engineered for the long run.

I have the habit of naming my bikes...

a) First bike was a Honda Shadow VT600. I named it Isis (Egypt Deity), the 'ideal mother and wife'.

b) Second bike was a Honda Shadow 750 ACE. I named it Amy (reference to Amy Winehouse), basically because she loved to drink gas like there is no tomorrow.

c) Third bike is a Suzuki vstrom DL650 (yellow, the only year they made it@2008). I named it Yellow jacket.

d) Forth bike was a Black I/S 1999. I simply call it my Lady Dragon, but I named it Brünnhilde (one of Odin's valkyries, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brynhildr).

e) Last addition was a red ST1300. I call it 'the red cherry', got think about a proper name to it.

I guess with time I got less creative...

I name my friends machines and most use the names I give them.

It gives them identity and makes it easier when discussing a job.
