Fearless on a motorcycle and is in critical condition from getting hit on a bicycle.... Best Wishes " Kentucky Kid " Nicky Hayden .... Always heard the Valkyrie Slide commerical was a young Nicky Hayden on the Valkyrie.

The American, who remains hospitalised in the Intensive Care unit in the Bufalini Hospital in Cesena, has suffered serious trauma with severe brain damage as a consequence.

The prognosis remains guarded.

MotoGP™ Legend and Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team rider Hayden was involved in a training accident whilst cycling in Italy. The American superstar was hit by a car whilst out cycling along the Rimini coast, where he has been spending some time following the recent Motul Italian Round of WorldSBK.

Emergency services were immediately called to the scene and Hayden was transported to local hospital. The 2006 Champion has since been moved to Cesena hospital.

I've seen alot of people that thought they were cool , but then again Lord I've seen alot of fools.

He was a formidable competitor against the best riders in the MotoGP world.
He was a champion and made those riders better when the flag dropped.
Great ride, Nicky, rest easy.  Sorry you left too early.

Former MotoGP champion Nicky Hayden has died aged 35, five days after being involved in a crash while cycling.

The American suffered "serious cerebral damage" after colliding with a car on the Rimini coastline in Italy on Wednesday, 17 May.

The 2006 MotoGP championship winner had been in the intensive care unit of Cesena's Maurizio Bufalini Hospital.

"We would like everyone to remember Nicky at his happiest - riding a motorcycle," his brother Tommy said.

A hospital statement issued on Thursday said Hayden had suffered "a serious polytrauma", which is a medical term to describe the condition of a person who has multiple traumatic injuries.

Hayden, who was nicknamed the Kentucky Kid, had competed for Red Bull Honda in the World Superbike Championship in Italy on 14 May.

Older brother Tommy, who was also a motorcycle racer, said the family had many "great and happy memories" of Hayden.

"He dreamed as a kid of being a pro-rider and not only achieved that but also managed to reach the pinnacle of his chosen sport," he said.
