Ride this Saturday

Glenn and I will be going on a ride this Saturday. We will be going to Payson to Flagstaff to Sedona to home. We will eat lunch at MartAnne's in Flagstaff. We will meet at Carefree hwy and Cave Creek rd at the Chevron at  7:30 am and then meet another group at 8:30 am Shea and beeline circle k /shell station(if there is another group). Let us know if you want to join in and what meeting place you will meet at. If we don't have any one sign up for the 2nd stop we are not going to stop and just continue to Payson.

Had a great ride (370 miles) today with Glenn. The temps on top the Mogollon rim were 57 a little cool for just a mesh jacket. We just stopped and put on sweatshirts and I reminded Glenn he had heat grips which he thanked me for later. 

There was snow on Humphrey's Peak and Mormon lake and Lake Mary were really full.




We ate lunch MartAnne's in Flagstaff. The food was outstanding. The Green chili omelet was to die for. (Sorry Rik)


Glenn is a lite eater. 


We left Flagstaff and headed down 89A. I forgot this road was under construction and what a mess this was. We had a 10 minute delay and got the fine pleasure of riding 4 miles on a dirt road being the 2nd vehicle back behind the water truck that was wetting down the road. Not only did we have to deal with the dirt and gravel, but also mud. The wing was sliding around a lot which raised the pucker factor and also got mud all over the underside of the bike.  When we got to Sedona the place was packed, so we decided to head over to Page Springs and head home. (I must say Oak Creek Canyon was absolutely beautiful this time of year)

I know you don't have a center stand, but when you place the wing on the center stand it pulls the bike 6 to 8 inches back. You will never get the wing fully into the chock when using the center stand unless you remove the stop bar on the chock (which than you could drive the wing right off the front of the lift when loading it. Not Good!!) which I still don't think it would be fully in the chock or you do not place the wing on the center stand and use the chock to hold up the bike up. I find that the wing is more stable on the center stand. All the shops I know put the wing on the center stand. Even Big Tom say he uses the center stand most of the time. Look at this picture under "Hey Ron....Lift" thread of Big Tom's bike and you will see his rear tire is in the same location as mine which means he is not fully into the chock.




With the wing on the center stand I can loosen the chock and spin the front wheel with a little effort to clean it. I tie off the center stand so the bike can not be accidentally knock off the center stand.

Ah funny you brought that up  , because I told Glenn the same story on Saturday about that trip to Colorado and I rode all morning freezing my hands off before Big Tom had to remind me that I had heated grips. Since that day I have never forgotten that I have heat grips, because of that story.
