KLR adventure.

As I posted earlier this year I bought a KLR. A couple of weeks ago I went with a group to Death Valley to explore some of the sites off dirt roads. I did a lot better then I thought and I could feel my dirt bike riding skills coming back. I was very impressed with the KLR and it handled quite well with my 250 pounds.
 
This view is much like Dantes View from the north west but you have to ride quite a ways up a dirt road.

This tells about the Skidoo pipeline that the miners used to run there mines and machines.

These Charcoal kilns were use to make charcoal for the mines. They heated the water from Skidoo for steam to run there rock crushers.

There quite large and there are 10 of them.

Dennis rode his new BMW GS650 from Blythe to join us.
There were 8 bikes with 9 people with us. Weather was perfect although a little cool in the morning.

George your bike would do just fine on the dirt roads. But we would be doing 65 and 70 on the pavement sometimes.. Are you going to InZane?

65-70 isn't too bad, but I'd loose speed on the hills. Over 70 and I'll see you at the next gas stop.

Was up on Aguerberry Point yesterday on my KTM 1290 Super Adventure. We also rode Titus Canyon. My bike basically has street tires and my friend on his KTM 1190 had knobbies. There were a few loose places where I puckered my seat, but never had a real problem. I tent camped at Panamint Springs and we had really nice weather. Going on Wednesday I had really high winds and coming home this morning was also windy. Kinda like typical desert weather in April. I did ride my Valkyrie last week and it was running pretty good. One of these days I need to sell, since I pretty much ride the KTM about 80% and the Goldwing the other.

Congrats!  I've had a 2003 KLR for almost 10 yrs and just picked up a '14 Valk.
