OK, So when I bought this bike from Bruce, he told me that if I solo configured it with the seat trim I would have a hard time accessing the saddle bags.  He was right even though they open more than I expected them to.  So I bought some pit pins so when I need full access I can remove the pins and open the bags much like an IS works.  They arrived today so I did the conversion.  It took 15-20 minutes.  I think I can do it a tiny bit faster next time but not much really you have to be careful to to scratch things up.

The pins installed

So the transformation to Super Valk begins

Real nice work Jeff.   :cooldude:

I like supervalks much more than interstates.  I have one of each.  Even though the trunk is not heavy (and rarely loaded heavy), I think the bike rides nicer without the taller weight (and the sailboat effect).

It's not just a looks thing.

PS: if you don't plan to convert it back and forth for the spousal unit, the rear ISO wings should come off too.  If you're not married to the OE drivers pegs, all you need is the ISO wing Valk driver's mounts to move them to the driver position as mini boards.  Opened up in back, they'll be hitting your heels/calfs walking the bike around.  (just thinking out loud)

Jess, I did think of that (removing the wings) but my issue is the chrome peg mounts have NON removable posts.  What I would really need to do is swap the chrome mounts for the stock ones off the Cobra bike.  Then I could remove the posts as well as the wings.  For now they will stay so if I do convert it back it will be less work.

Good Job Chris. These bikes are always a work in progress, and they all look different. :cooldude:

Bruce designed it.  I just made it functional with the addition of the pit pins.

Jess, you are absolutely correct... I finally got her out for a ride and the handling is so much better. It's like an invisible passenger suddenly got off  :cooldude:

I guess yer never done.  I thought the super Valk conversion was complete.  then, a friend dropped by and gave me a fender rack that he hadn't used in years.  Just needed a little chrome polish and WOW, sure makes the rear end pop.  I may even use it to carry stuff with a bungee or two

Jess from VA

Yeah, I have that rack on mine too.   :cooldude:

Hopefully, a soft big duffel bag, bungied crossways on the rack that droops down on the saddlebag lids on each side doesn't scuff vinyl like it did my OE bag lid paint.

Until I ended up getting a stiff sided duffel that won't droop, I ziptied a 5/8" dowel across the rack so when my soft duffel was placed on top, the dowel held it up off the bag lid paint.... and made it much easier getting in and out of those bags during my trips with the duffel back there.
