So check this out, She was at the community gate coming home last night when a crash happens behind her on the main road. In her rear view mirror she see's a car air born flying over the 2 out lanes after being launched by the center median. It lands on the shrubery berm and goes into the retention pond. She wips the car around calls 911 and runs down to the shoreline as the car fully submerges. Suddenly the driver surfaces and is struggling to stay afloat on his back so she dives into gator infested waters in the black of night and pulls the 88 year old fella to shore. It took him a lil while to regain his senses and finally answers her question to reveal his wife is in there too. She dives back in to where the car is now 3 feet under and nose down. She dives down to find the doors locked and the airbags deployed and blocking the windows. The sunroof is open and she can't feel anybody from there. By now others have arrived and some police strip down and dive in. Minutes pass and they come out with her limp and blue body hiding her from the man who is still dazed. she calls me and i drive to the gate as she is cold and shivering, I see  the EMT's kinda say it doesn't look good for the lady. Today Liz reads the article in the paper and see's all it says is critically injured, gets the ladies name and calls the Hospital, they say she is in ICU, wow, somehow maybe she (83 year old) will recover. The paper article is short, mostly wrong except for the names and no mention of the rescue. Liz pulled some back muscles pulling the guy up the steep mucky shoreline and her brand new glasses are gone. She had set them on the shoreline as they were not made for diving and as others came along they must have gotten kicked in the water. I'm sure there is lots I left out but that is how we spent our Valentines eve, I will make it up to her, she is something special.   :-*

Holy Supergirl, Sixlow.

A wife to be proud of for sure.  :cooldude:

Please pass along my thoughts and cudos to her.

That kind of quick thinking and action is above and beyond, and certainly saved two lives.

(and deserved a better news article, but then again, not having my name and address in the newspaper or online news would always be my first choice)

:cooldude: Wow, now that is impressive to be so much under contorl after wittnessing such a horrible accident. She is a hero to those folks and a guardian  over their rescue. Very nice  :coolsmiley:

WOW

What a phenomenal service your wife performed. I only wish there was a way to reimburse her for the loss of her glasses and whatever medical costs she may incur as a result of her heroism!

I am so impressed by the heroic actions she performed, God bless her, and you, for the wonderful rescue she performed!

I'm proud to know your wife, a very courageous woman to put others above her. You are both great people, you for running to her aid too. Not to many people in today's times would have done what she did.

Thank you for sharing her story. I hope everyone is Ok. She is a very brave woman.

Tourus

Great story, I think the word hero is used pretty loosely but she is a true hero. She could have called 911 and sat down and waited but there was no time to wait on first responders. She made herself the first responder and saved there lives

I hope the people who's lives she saved were told the whole story of who did save them, quick thinking,

  SUPER HEROINE :cooldude:

Luckily they are in perfect shape. She had insurance on them but it didn't cover total loss,  just damage. That's what i figured I would pull out of the water, if at all. It took about ten minutes of raking the bottom with my net along 15 feet of shoreline. I had to give it a try and am glad I did.  :cooldude:

It is an amazing story for sure, Liz!  You should feel awesome, knowing you saved two people's lives!  Not very many people can say that.  They had an Angel watching over them that day, for sure.  I hope to be riding again soon so I can meet some of you folks.  Take care, all.

Wow Liz! Good for you, and also for those you helped while disregarding your own safety. While we all hope that is how we would react when faced with something like that, few of us will ever find out. Really proud of how you reacted Liz.  :cooldude:

My Aunt and Uncle live a few doors down and my Aunt has taken my wallet size picture of the Mrs. down to the clubhouse as they are going to do an article in our monthly "The Shell" and add Liz's picture. They had an update on the people. I am sad to say the Lady from the accident has passed and the man is in a trauma unit in Jacksonville still. God Bless them both.

I will add just the link to the general board as all your comments are a must read.
Thank You all again and I will keep us posted.
