Ron, so you fix me up with Western Honda Powersports and then talk me out of getting the DCT?  OK....
 Donna contacted Western Honda (Allen) via e-mail and was told they have none in stock and they were having trouble getting any because of demand.  I think no matter where I go, it's going to be a case of putting a deposit down and waiting for delivery.  The local guy was willing to work with me on the price so I may stick with him.  I haven't locked anything in yet and I'll just keep checking options and reading what others think of the new wing, for now.

I don't like Allen from Western Honda. I dealt with him first and we came to agreement to buy my 2017 elsewhere. I than had a friend tell me not to give up on Western and put me in touch with Jason. Night and day difference and is a good guy to work with. If your happy with your local dealer go for it. I have no affiliation with Western other than I bought my bike there and got a good deal.

I'm not buying the rumor on the DCT. Like I said this could be a 1 in a million problem. There are a lot of these bikes on the road now and this is the only one with this problem.

Ron, I'm not worried about one failed DCT.  I believe Honda has done their homework.  They did a good job with my Valkyrie, and I have had several Honda ATV's.  I will keep Jason in mind if things don't work out with the local guy.  I did get an acceptable price from the local guy (not as good as I hear out of Honda of Russelville but I don't have to travel) and he is looking into availability and a time frame.  I have a DCT trans in my Honda Pioneer 1000 side by side and like it.  It always seems to be in the correct gear and can shift faster than I can.  I do have to be mindful of the clutch when crawling over rough trails.

That's not fair the 1997- 2003 Valkyrie is one of the greatest motorcycle ever made. Nothing compares to it.  

Like I said before if I was in the market for a new motorcycle the 18 would be a strong 1st on my list. I like a lot of things about it, but I would like to see reports on them when they have 50,000 to 100,000 miles on them. Call me a reserved person, but I didn't buy my first GL1800 until 2007.

When they came out with the GL1800 in 2001 if you remember they had cracked frame problems, over heating in certain situations, transmission problems, brake recalls. It took Honda many years to acknowledge the problem before they address those issues. The biggest problem the GL1800 had was the stock front suspension would not support that heavy of a bike over time and they never did address it or acknowledge it as being a problem . The first thing I did when I bought my 2017 was to change out the front suspension with mono tubes. I only had 250 miles on the original springs. I hope they have solve this problem with the new wishbone design. According to Max the 18 shocks still needs to be improve, but you can take that with a grain of salt because he sells upgraded suspensions for a living. Only time will tell how great the 2018 Goldwing will be. Let's hope it will be another Valkyrie home run.

There sure is a lot of good information about the new Goldwings on the GL1800 board. 

It is very interesting reading what the new owners are discovering.
