At IZ. Leave out for a spontaneous day ride, no specific destination. So the highway we chose wasn’t fun enough so we stopped for gas and a look at the map.
Our leader spots what looks like a local (a little old lady) that probably knows the roads. So he goes over and asks about hwy 40 to Callaway. Turns out that’s where she’s going so she says we can follow her. Lol like that’s gonna happen, right.
Then she says something like no really follow me if you think you can keep up because the road is really windy. I said well that’s what we like.
So off we go following granny. Unbelievable. Well, the road was great and she was hauling a$$ for a granny, but we think she slowed down for us. Still the speed was good and the twisties were fun.
When she turned off we waved and honked. We turned to avoid a dark rain cloud. The rest blew our minds.
So granny didn’t like that we didn’t turn behind her. I seen her stop in the middle of the road she just turned onto. We were a little ways down the road when granny caught up with us. She got right on tail end charly’s A$$ and started flashing her lights. When we didn’t stop, she pulls out on a double yellow and guns it, passes all four of us and then does a stop on our leader that any LEO would be proud of.
After we all stopped behind her she begins to chew us out for not following her.
We had to explain about missing the rain and in fact we really did know where we we going. Still it took some minutes to convince her to let us continue on our way. She had that look like she was in charge and we was in trouble.
We finally got away alive right before experiencing the edge of that rain storm. Luckily Keith (our leader) navigated us away from the rain and we made it back to ground zero dry as a bone.
The little old lady from Callaway made our day!
