The colour codes are for/from Honda. If you get the pain from them, then you're good to go.
But take those same "part numbers" to someone else, and they have nothing.
Colorite is your best choice. They give you the top coat and the base coat. This will match the OEM colour.
But as mentioned, any good shop can scan and custom match any colour. The question would be is it going to cost you more than just a stock colour off the shelf? Is the fairing far enough away from other colours that a slight difference won't be noticed?
My interstate is the reverse of the more common black over red color scheme. Do the same color code #'s still apply, or was the red modified for my bike?
Yes, it's a 2001, a different black over red ( Pearl Cheyenne Red with Gloss Black ), rather than the red over black ( American Red ). It is a factory colour, and along with almost all the IS colours, I like them a lot.
Someone, a while back, posted a Valkyrie color scheme chart that listed all years and color schemes, but it did not identify the difference between the two opposite black/red schemes for the Interstate.
