And since I have now thoroughly threadjacked an AR thread into a Silencer thread I'll do my duty and bring it full circle with a few pics of some of my ARs with a suppressor on 'em. Smiley

Please forgive the messy reloading desk.

CMMG 5.56 AR with my Omega can on it:

No name lower I built out with a Model 1 Sales upper 7.62x39 AR with same Omega can on it:

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

I needed a silencer last week.  Grin I decided to shoot my .45 in the back yard. Boy did it sound like a cannon going off in my housing addition. Could hear it echoing off every house for a 1/4 mile. Dogs all barking and carring on. Needless to say I never shot a whole box as I intended.  Sad

Twilight zone music playing.... I swear to Buda Serk, (in the pics in the house) we have the same doors, trim, doorknobs, and aging beige carpet.  Except for the wall color, that could be my house.  I've added the doors (throughout), but the carpet I inherited (just lucky).

So the threads on the savage .22 bbl are the same as the AR flash hiders/bbls?  Or you use an adapter of some kind?

Hehehe, pretty cool about the houses. The carpet came with it and is cheap nasty stuff, but we're not spending any money on new flooring until the triplets are a few years older... (And the yellow walls were that way when we moved here, I was gonna repaint it but decided to leave it for a funny dichotomy for a bright yellow man cave.)

The threads on most .22 threaded barrels are the same pitch as for an AR, but the threaded part is longer on an AR. The suppressor in the pics above is my 7.62 Omega can though, not meant for .22 (You want to be able to disassemble a .22 can to clean it because of the lead from .22 rounds, a center fire rifle can doesn't have to be because of the pressure wave pretty much cleaning it out everytime you shoot.)

For the rifles, you can either play the thread pitch game, or SilencerCo makes special flash hiders or  muzzle brakes you put on your rifles to be suppressed, and there's a quick detach system you use to move the silencer from rifle to rifle that have the correct muzzle devices installed. (I hope that makes sense, I could explain it easily in person, hard to convey succinctly in the written word.)

Of course, none of the different brands quick detach muzzle devices are compatible, so choosing a rifle suppressor is a lot like choosing a D-SLR camera, once you pick a brand you pretty much need to stick with it if you plan on using any of the extra goodies.
