Just got back from a 4300 mile ride out west with brother in law. Did several national parks and attractions riding through Iowa, South Dakota, Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, and others.

I was on my 1997 Tourer and brother in law was on his brand new Goldwing. Both bikes ran great without a single problem. Our speed was 65 MPH or less on the Interstates and 55 or less on the back roads. My mileage for the trip was 37.9 MPG.

Good trip.

I do not have that kind of self control finding myself rarely under 3500 rpm out west of the Mississippi
and often 4000 rpm if I am not careful

I am very happy any time my mileage is over 30 on a long solo
trip
What National Parks?  Pictures?

And a lifetime of memories in the great wide-open spaces!  There's still room out here, eh?             Shhhsh, don't tell anyone... Wink

Our slower speeds are due more to old age rather than fuel mileage. I'm 74 and my brother in law is 76, and I guess we have lost some of the need for speed. The main problem is staying out of other folks way on the 80 mph interstates. We had rather ride the back roads.

This trip we visited the Badlands, Canyonlands, and Gunnison National Parks. We were headed to Yellowstone, but freezing weather and closing the Beartooth highway caused us to head south to Colorado and Utah for warmer weather.

This was our third and shortest trip west and my fifth and shortest trip west, so we had already visited most of the National Parks.

I'll try to post some pictures but I've have had trouble posting pictures in the past.
