This was my first car tire on the Valk and it had pretty square edges (205/60-16). That bugger broke loose on the white line, giving me the old "oh crap" significant fishtail and I did everything wrong. I rolled off the gas AND pulled in the clutch. She stood straight back up and I was just along for the ride.
So, you say you did everything wrong. My instinct would be to do exactly as you did. At the risk of being perceived as stupid for not already knowing, what is the prescribed process for correcting that situation?
I do not consider myself any above a good average skilled rider. What works for me is a controlled reduction in throttle with a ready position to use brake, body English as needed. I never use the clutch in that situation until I am ready for my oh crap calm down moment off the road. There are plenty of riders that I'm sure are better than me . Thankfully I've never been flung off of this bike.  Smiley

Blowout on a 1200 Wing...... MC tire....

Blowout on a !500 I/S....... Car tire

Both happened at 60 mph +......

Both felt the same and caused the bike to shake like a dog sh#$ting razor blades...... and both scared the crap out me...

MC would not hold a plug and had to be flatbed to nearest shop.

Car Tire took a plug and got me 250 miles home and still on the bike (but am replacing it in the nest few weeks before the season.) Will be putting another on.

I like the Car tire on the Valk... overall

Having cross sectioned a M/C tire and a car tire with a hacksaw I'm way MORE inclined to trust a car tire with these old bones. A lot of riders I know Still attempting to tell me how wrong I am for being on a car tar!  2funny I do NOT debate this anymore cuz the debate/argument/discussion takes away from MY ridin time!  coolsmiley The last tire failure I had was in 1974 on my C B 500-4 with Wife-now ex wife-on the back and the dead wabbit-Evan-memories?-must have repositioned enough that a bone penetrated the tire carcass and the tube thus rendering tie and tube incapable of holding pressure. The fact we were running about 75 M P H at the time MIGHT have had SOMETHING to do with the fact it took her a long cursed time to ever git on a M/C again!  Roll Eyes RIDE SAFE.
