Telemarketer block is a good thing - if you're not on my "contacts" , you get asked to press "<some random digit>" before it will complete the call.....
that exists? how do I set that up on my phone?
I use CallCentric , a VOIP company based in NYC. You do need broadband internet, and then some VOIP phone equipment (can be a device which converts your analog phone to digital, or a phone that plugs directly into ethernet). Check them out at
www.callcentric.com . Multiple plans, and you can transfer your existing number to them. Plus it was SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than telco or cable phone service (I usually pay $8-$9 / month). The downside is - if your internet is down, so is your phone.
