I heard the Indians kept goats in the visiting locker room, just before the team arrived.
Oh, and they hired Steve Bartman as a beer vender. It's over.   Grin

Chicago got their split on the road, which is the least that they could accept in a seven game series.
Arietta gave them six good innings; good results from their bullpen and they had timely hitting when needed.  Good game in what looked like a cold and damp park.  Cleveland had their chances and couldn't convert them.  Chicago did to Cleveland what Cleveland did to them the night before.  So, on to Wrigley Field and the next three games there.   Play ball!

Fine game last night with both starters pitching great around the strike zone (ump was a little bit low), but both managed to keep the other team off balance.  Great defense from both clubs.  Cleveland managed to squeeze out one run and their bullpen held off the Cubs.  Will wonder if Maddon changes his lineup to try and inject some better chances at the plate tonight.  Not sure if I like the idea of the DH in Cleveland and pitchers batting in Chicago; there should be a one rule hitting plan for the entire series that is consistent for both teams' formulating their lineup. Play ball. Smiley

I would think at this skill level the DH rule isn't an issue. But I, like you, feel that they should either use it for the entire series or not use it for the entire series. One year run the DH the next year don't have a DH.  Just from a spectator perspective it would be a simpler thing to do.

But as long as the teams are playing by the same rules, all is good.

Personally I thought the game was terrible and would have been much better if someone bought me a ticket behind home plate and a plane ticket. But NNNNnnnoooooo. Nobody did. So if anyone has an extra ticket I am available.

This post season has been pretty good. MLB is putting on a class act here. Nice oasis from the political.

Although, I really don't care who wins, I thought about it for a while and decided to pull for Cleveland.
Probably wouldn't have leaned that way but, as I remember, Chicago gave us Obama and I just can't forgive that issue.

And we true fans really don't care about your not caring; so what's all the chirping about?  Pushing your horseshit view and trying to tie it into this post about baseball is chickenshit.  Please lean over the railing so that someone in Wrigley can push you over.  Politics at the ball park are not welcome. You'd be a fool to bring them up at a World Series venue; your physical well being would be in serious jeopardy.  Please take it somewhere else. tickedoff  In the spirit of the game: Home would be nice. 2funny

Play ball! Smiley  Cubs on the brink and need to come out aggressively tonight because there is no tomorrow without a win tonight.  Gotta take it back to Cleveland with a "W" and it would be crushing to their fans to lose three and the Series at home.  The Indians will try to close it out.   I think that Maddon has to change his lineup tonight and hope that somebody hits the ball with runners on base!

Apparently we don't share the same sense of humor......   Why would I be at Wrigley Field?

Ironically, I received a couple of PMs and several emails from our brethren who thought my comment was funny.    My guess from your response is you didn't.........

Do you not realize that all MLB cares about is the dollars they can entice you to spend, doesn't matter whether it's the Cubs, the Indians, the Dodgers or the Yankees?    In addition, it would appear (correct me if I'm wrong) that you consider the World Series as a significant event?   The world will keep right on turning regardless of who wins this game of over paid boys playing with balls.

I'll try to make this right with you, at the next Inzane, please take the time to seek me out (I'll keep an eye out for you also) and I'll be happy to sit down with you (I'll even buy drinks) and we can discuss this intelligently as two adults.   BTW, do you use that kind of language in everyday discussions?   If so, we can meet in private if you can't control yourself.  Wink    I try not to use such language although having served in the Marines and the Army, I'm very acquainted with such vulgarities.    I just try not to use it in mixed company or on open forums.

I'll try to consider your feelings in future communications.     BTW, who won?

Cubs are still in it after a nip and tuck 3-2 win.  Scratched their way and held on in the late innings.
Day off Monday and back to Cleveland for another on Tuesday.  This will get really exciting if Chicago comes up big.  Put a some hits together tonight when it counted.  Can they do it again?

Game 6: Arietta vs. Tomlin?  Who else could Cleveland throw who's had enough rest? Undecided

I have caught parts of this world series.  Man was the atmosphere electric at Wrigley last night.  These fans are so hungry for a World Series title and were just willing the victory.  10 years ago I took my nephew to a World Series game.  Tigers at home ( been a huge Tiger fan my whole life ) against the Cards.  Kenny Rogers shut them down and it was the only game the Tigers would win in that series.  Atmosphere was same as in Chi Town last night.

Game 7 and lovin' it.  Had to miss last night's game due to "the job".
A one game World Series!  Either team can win it and one will.  Kluber vs. Hendricks and both teams have seen the opposing pitcher plenty enough to know what's coming.  The DH is in play and I do believe that it can influence hitting and running strategy over nine innings if the score is close.

MLB channel had a great biography on Harry Caray yesterday and Harry was once asked during one of his forays down on Rush Street as to "What's it all about, Harry?"  Harry's reply on the great meaning of life was a bit rhetorical..."What's it all about?  What's it all about?  It's about Booze, Broads, Baseball and Bullshit!"   So, tonight could be partially about winning the big one for Harry... angel

I think that Chicago can do it as they have some momentum, but Cleveland hasn't come all this way to lay  down either.  Just hoping for a solid performance from both teams.  A 2-1 score would be perfect.

Play Ball...one last time...and then it's wait until next year for somebody. coolsmiley

2-1 pitching duel would be exciting.  Maybe moreso would be one of those tight games where the lead changes hands three times.

Not liking this home plate umpire's strike zone; not wide enough and he's particularly missing the outside edges.  This applies to both teams and his non-calls have consequences.

Good game, though.  Cubs got to Kluber; this being the third time that they've faced him.
Cubs were swinging the bats early.  Good for them as their defense has been a tad porous.

man, that bottom of the 8th was a doozzy.  I was flipping back and forth between the game and the CMA awards.

top of the 9th was or should have been a game winner for the cubbies, oh well,  extra innings we go.

cubbies up 8 to 6 whoopie dooo.... Smiley

How many times has a team came back down 3 to 1 and at an away game came home to win it all?

cubbies never die attitude - awesome.

One of the best WS I've seen in a while....Excellent baseball.....

I have to say one thing, and this is from a long suffering Red Sox fan. When the Sox won in '04 after an 86 year drought, one of my first thoughts after the jubilation was.....'what now?' I was almost 'sad' that the story was over. No more drama other than the usual drive to get there again. I know it sounds strange, but I've spoken to other people that felt the same thing after the win.....

I wonder if any Cubs fans will have that feeling.......

Not today they're not. Some are either too hung over or still drinking to worry about what's next. That will probably creep in around the time for pitchers and catchers to report.

And a tip of the hat needs to go to Theo Epstein, he pulled off another miracle.
