The President Elect when asked to clarify his tweet yesterday said this. Merry Christmas children. Bargain from strength. Not weakness. I thought all you lefties were saying Trump was in bed with Putin? That Trump would roll over and let Putin do what he wants? Do NOT think an Arms Race quite fits that position!

I can't speak for "lefties". But that's not what I've said. It appears he might be unstable with the tweets though. And when questioned about them, he sometimes backtracks and sometimes doubles down. Encouraging an Arms Race sure doesn't seem like "bargaining from strength". Seems closer to psychosis to me.

Well, since Russia has 200-300 more nukes than we do, then, we do have some catching up to do. I'm not sure that each side having 7000+ such weapons is enough to get the job done right.

It was off air, but I was watching when they came back after commercial, and talked about it. It was NOT from a tweet. There was an earlier tweet about strengthening our nuclear forces, but not arms race.

MP, when Mika Brezehnski asked him to clarify his tweet about building up our nuclear arms. That was his response. I believe that's what I said in my post. Was it worded confusing ?

When confronted by a threat, I'd much rather the lead dog snarls and shows his teeth instead of roll over on his back, expose his throat, pee on himself then apologize to our adversaries.

We have had to put up with this for the last eight years. I guess the Snowflakes will have to put up with Trump for his term in office. At least Trump did not draw a "Red Line", then almost immediately back down, as our current POTUS has done many times. I am still waiting for an answer as to how the Libs square this with their pronouncements that Trump is Putins Lackey.

You could change the quote to apply to some here, we see some movement in shifting positions in the world, some talk or saber rattling with a bravado and we have some who would want to alert at every small sound. Its not for good but for criticism of an incoming president to raise the specter of concern. When you have a do nothing in office or someone who gives the store away and makes slaves of the inhabitants and have someone new that is not going to do that, how long before sabre rattling is going to happen? Come on guys have some balls and don't call fire in a crowded theater just to make a false point. The sky is falling, the sky is falling, or more to the point, the guy YOU picked is failing, the guy you picked is Failing. OH PLEASE. If there was genuine concern we should have heard how Trump stopped a judgement against the Israelis also but we didn't hear that either did we. Its kind of like propaganda. Russia has always been the bully and when you stand up to a bully contrary to what this admin has done, what do you think will happen? This admin has allowed them and encouraged them to build their military and assume a position that says they are on top and the US will not do anything. As in Obama saying stop it in reference to the supposed influencing the elections.

Either you guys aren't concerned about more proliferation of nuclear weapons, or you are just going to fall in line with everything Trump says. Both scenarios don't bid well for America.

Just as I'll give Obama a kudos when he does something I agree with, I won't hesitate to call Trump out when he does something I disagree with. I don't WANT more nukes, but if "they" are going to up their arsenal, I don't think a proper response is to lodge a formal complaint with the complaints department at the UN then going on Oprah to brag about how caring and understanding you are is gonna do much good.

Serk types too quickly for me to compete. I wish there were no nuclear bombs in the world. I have mixed emotions on that wish when I remember the saving of lives at the end of WW II. There are nuclear bombs in the world. If potential enemies have them I want my country to have more and to have better delivery systems. I think people identify that as an arms race. I'm getting weary of hearing (reading) people saying if you don't agree with me you must be x or y. It's most especially distressing when a point has been built on very flawed logic. I get it that some of you don't like the President that the American people elected. Welcome to the club. Don't you think it's a bit ironic to pick at and attack eveything the man says and then accuse others of accepting everything the man says? Let's wait until the man takes office and let his actions testify to what he is or isn't capable of doing. Contrary to some thinking we don't anticipate a do-over election before January. Contrary to what has been thought by some for the past eight years a president can't do many of the things he proposes without the assistance of an agreeing Congress.

Dang you Trump. Why do you have to take your oath of office so seriously. Did you not receive that incredibly huge red marker I sent you to draw lines in the sand?
That's it. Just put in my order for an underground fallout bunker.

I sure don't see the point to an arms race, but if Putin wants to push it - we can bankrupt Russia - AGAIN (like we did to the Soviet union) with one.

I saw the content of the letter on tv this morning. Do I believe Putin is sincere? Who can say. Am I troubled that he reached out to Trump? Hell no! Do I trust Trump to be able to handle Putin in a way that protects the USA? Far, far more than an Obama or a Clinton, remember Obama's open mike comments leading up to his second term? How did Obama's handling of Putin work out the last four years? Now, who is Putin's BBF, probably Obama, especially if he used some lube while he was running rough shod all over Obama. How sweet.

Everyone is concerned about nuclear proliferation and as stated no one wants it. But I do also remember this game being played in a real scenario called the Cuban Missile crisis. You may want to read up on it. We see that Obama's negotiations like in Iran fell through so that doesn't work. If he had signaled a strong US rather than give the store away, maybe we would not have had to confront this situation with Russia now. Trump is doing what in most peoples judgement is what is needed at this time. That is not blind agreement and blank check as you would imply but intelligent thought on each situation. Unlike you guys gave Obama, now I understand why you let this country go like you did and didn't Object to Obama.

A nuclear arsenal must be maintained and things that are no longer safe to handle must be properly disposed of and replaced. That is the gist of what he is saying . Snowflakes wont get it

Do you believe that the nukes we possess have served as a deterrent for the last 60+ years? Has the technology changed any during that time? Time to take another look? Maybe. I am fairly certain you don't really know what he "wants" and you have trouble reading between the lines when it comes to his tweets and comments. I don't thing you or I have ever seen a PEOTUS roll up his sleeves and go to work like Trump is doing. I know you dislike him as much as I deplore Obama as our commander in chief but you have to expect as much of a steamroller heading toward you as I did in 08.

Does anyone else find it interesting that Putin is only now making these comments regarding nuclear buildup? It seems to me that Obama has done pretty well working to keep the nukes under some sort of control. I might have missed earlier chest thumping from the Kremlin, but I don't think so.

STOP THE PRESSES! Trump caught in a lie, and the good reporters at Politico have PROOF! Trump claims to be 6'3", BUT they acquired a copy of his driver's license, and it states he is only 6'2"!!! (Sadly, this isn't from The Onion... "Respectable" news site Politico is really running this on their front page right now: http://www.politico.com/story/2016/12/trump-drivers-license-height-232948 )

It seems to me that there are more important issues at hand that he could spend time on. And he wants more nukes..... So would you prefer that everyone has them but us? Let's face it Baldo,,he will never do anything right in your opinion. Let me put it this way. He's done nothing to date that makes me feel in any way hopeful that he's up to the job.... you did not answer my question. Did you even read it?

STOP THE PRESSES! Trump caught in a lie, and the good reporters at Politico have PROOF! Trump claims to be 6'3", BUT they acquired a copy of his driver's license, and it states he is only 6'2"!!! (Sadly, this isn't from The Onion... "Respectable" news site Politico is really running this on their front page right now: http://www.politico.com/story/2016/12/trump-drivers-license-height-232948 ) Wow.....I'm with you on this one Serk. There's no need for this kind of nonsense, there'll be plenty to pick from for real in the future. Definitely a case of 'pick your battles'.
