Jan 12 1945 Somewhere in Germany. I'll try and write a few lines today as we have pulled off the line for a few days rest. I shaved for the first time since Dec 30. We have been out in the snow for 11 days and nights so you can see about how I feel, but I had a good nights sleep last night and all the pancakes and bacon I could eat for breakfast. This is all we look forward to over here, a good nights sleep and a good hot meal. The snow is knee deep here now and snowed more last night. I am with the First Army so you can read in the papers what we are doing. I got my picture taken the other day when we were taking a town. Don't suppose you would know me if you could see my picture. Well folks I would give anything to be home, so I could go to Church and live a good life. I don't curse anymore and I Pray as often as I used to curse. I haven't gotten Religion yet, but if I live yo get home I'll live the rest of my lifer Serving the Lord. I want you all to Pray for me that I'll come back home some day. I may not get to write any more for a while, so don't worry. This HERO lived from 5 Feb 1920 to 4 July 2017. His Family informed us-P G R-that he Kept his promise to the Lord for the rest of his days. One of this mans nephews said he regretted all the men he killed in battle the rest of his life. I was Proud and Happy to stand a Flag Line and be a small part of the escort to his final resting place. We are running out of our WWII HEROES. They are All irreplaceable And there are NO more in stock. Time doing what the enemy could NOT.

Doing those PGR missions was always pretty darn sobering stuff

Thanks for serving and for being the final escort

Accompanying the dead to their final resting place is a mitzvah dude  cooldude

Thanks, Dennis.

I have an old friend and former neighbor who served as a paratrooper in the Pacific in WWII.  He's over 90 now and lives alone.  He's getting very frail.  Mark and Twila are watching over him and bringing him meals.  His kids want him to go into assisted living but he's stubborn.  He's fallen a number of times in his home and it's probably a matter of a short time before he 'fades away'

I hope that he will be honored.

Find out If at all possible if he or the Family wants the P G R to stand for this HERO when It's his time. We Have to be invited or asked. Without Fail I Always consider it an Honor to stand for Any Current or Former military or first responders. A Very Young-8 years of age-leukemia patient wanted to be-his words-a Cop. I believe it was last year the Winona Missouri Police Department made him an Honorary Police Officer. That young Police Officer passed away this past week and I was the Ride Captain on a mission in Winona 6 July 17 and I walked over to the Police Dept and contacted the Chief. I laid it out for the Chief and he said he would contact the family because on the News they stated he was going to get full Honors as a Police Man and I mentioned that the P G R would be Proud to stand for this young Officer. I contacted my Senior R/C after the fact but he agreed with me. I believe that news story was broadcast the 5th on KY3 out of Springfield Mo. The letter I posted was part of that WWII HEROS death notice. It was mailed back home to his family. And his family stated he kept his Promise to GOD and served GOD the rest of his life. RIDE SAFE.
