AND Not what you'd think-maybe.

Front of my casa faces dang near due east. And it be close on to high summer here bouts. I now have a SEVERLY cropped Elm Tree that at one time supplied shade in the morning and early afternoon that helped keep the house cool. And while I was in Asheville at I-14 my friend and neighbor called me and informed me the Elm Tree in front of my casa took a lighting hit.

Well turns out in the long run That lighting hit Was fatal to the Elm Tree. I now have about an 18 foot high Y shaped stump that Was the base of the Elm. I no longer have the birds and squirrels that called that tree home nor the insects it hosted. I guess I've lost my own little eco system.

And with the heat and lack of rain the lawn is cooking due to the lack of shade.

Really starting to appreciate the-for lack of a nail thingy.

When the City Crew came with the bucket truck and chain saws I KNEW it wuz over for the Elm TREE. Reason the City took her down the figured after a survey it was cheaper to take the tree down stead of the tree takin wires down. And I wasn't charged for tree removal. BUT I duz MISS that big ol Elm Tree! Plus with needing A/C earlier in the day it are playin hob with the utility bill.

Case yer missin the jist of this thread-Trees ARE Very important to All life.

RIDE SAFE.
