Do Your Best and Miss the Rest!

Yorkville, Illinois

« on: October 24, 2017, 07:04:22 PM »

Hey all,
I have news I'm not looking forward to sharing.
About 5 weeks ago, I thought I suffered a pulled muscle below my left ribcage. It turned out I have a broken 5th rib. I didn't recall any obvious trauma at the time and based on a chest Xray, it was thought that the 5th rib was weakened by cancer. I've had more tests, CTs, bone scans and bloodwork. It appears I have cancer in the lungs, liver, and bone. I know it won't be an easy fight but I will not give up. That's not an option. I am putting my faith in the Lord and the medical doctors I have. I am going through Delnor Hospital in Geneva, Illinois. Delnor is associated with Northwestern Medicine, a school with a good track record in dealing with Cancer. I start chemo next week.

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers! Thank you!

Bonnie and I wish you the best possible outcome.

Keep positive and stay mad at the cancer but not the world.

Keep the faith and good luck.

As a cancer patient going through chemotherapy  right now, keep the faith brother. Todays treatments are miles ahead of what use to be done 20 years ago.

If you need someone to talk tooo, feel free to PM me. I'll respond.

Russ, I'm sorry to hear this news. You and your family are getting all the prayers I can muster. You are a strong God fearing person. I have no doubt you will come out the other end of this stronger than ever. I also think you should take Land Elephant up on his offer. Take care my friend, and let your wife and daughters know we here at the VRCC are thinking of them also.

So sorry to hear this. Hoping the best for you.

As a cancer survivor [ so far anyway] there is hope. As you said, don't give up. The treatments can be rough at times, but, you're tough enough.

Talked to Russ a little while ago on the phone and he sounds Very upbeat. I get the impression he is happy with his Doctors and is waiting on some stuff from them for His Treatment. Russ-if I'm out a line I apologize up front. My Prayers for you Brother are ongoing and Will continue.  angel RIDE SAFE.

Damn, that sucks big time man. I will pray for you and your family.

My uncle had it and had to go on chemo/etc. He was like me, a meat/beef lover and suffered because of the nausea and lack of appetite while on treatment.

He said to me: " _ If I knew about the nausea, I would have had steak *every* single meal *before* the damn chemo started. I would have feed on meat for a couple weeks so I wouldn't miss it so much now."

Years ago, a cousin of mine had a few medical problems.
In this small town, she went to every doc in town.
Nothing changed.... then she started going down hill.
Her mom grabbed her and headed to the big city about 65 miles away...
They run every test known to man...
finally sat her down.... And told her... You have got this type of cancer..(TREWDFGHJJKGFXAZGJLKMNBVXZYIOOPIYTREAW) something never heard of..
You are at stage 3....
No treatment known to work on this..... You got maybe 4 months....
BUT........ IF YOU WANT.....
To be a test subject for some new meds...
Well heck... what do I have to loose.
Long story I know......
BUT.......... After 15 years....
She is still here..
Married, 3 kids......
Hang in there......
